Default Wedding Ideas - ANYTHING

So random thread,

Getting married in June, most of the details are coming along nicely. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to make the wedding stand out, anything they thought was cool at a wedding they were at.

From a midnight liquor bar, cool dance music to anything, any idea is a good idea!

Thank you in advance for anything!

I would be embarrassed if you plan on spending less than $60k.

I would say spend less the put the money you save towards a Divorce Lawyer, which half of the married people eventually need.

A small detail- at a friend's wedding, they had grab bags of little toys and candy for all the little kids at the reception. I thought that was good idea. They kept smaller children from having temper tantrums of tiredness/boredness.

The last wedding I went to gave a bottle of wine with their picture/wedding info as the label. I thought it was a neat touch that wouldnt cost a arm and a leg.
Pick something other than tapping a wine glass to make you too kiss.
Doing "trivia" for the couples to see which tables get to go get food first.

those were some of the simple yet effective things I noticed.

I don't know whether you have the location picked out or not, but one of the nicest weddings I went to last year was held at the Wedding Pavillion on the western edge of Calgary, along the Trans Canada Highway. I believe they have wedding planners etc.

Ya I do Photo Booths that really get people having a lot of fun. The photo booths now a days are a major hit at most events you will see. I can honestly say more people would rather be goofy in a photo booth than actually dance on a dance floor.

Instead of a guest book, get a large sized picture matt (2" or more wide) to fit one of your wedding photos (ours is 11x14 I think). Then have the guests write their name on the matt with a nice pen, and after the wedding have it framed with one of your wedding photos. Ours hangs in the hallway, and after 13 years I still look at it now and then to read the names. A guest book just gets stuffed in a drawer and forgotten about.

here's a little something i did at a wedding a few years ago. my buddy asked me to mc his reception - no problem!!

now i'll preface this by saying we live in bc and myself along with most of the wedding party are HUGE flames fans. most of the guests we're from bc... hence canucks fans. also, the groom is huge into hockey, so hockey stuff at the reception wouldn't really surprise anyone.... ok - onto the story.

the room is full of guests, the music softens and i call in the wedding party. once the applause/glass tapping was done i get everyone to sit. now, this is the time that i would usually introduce the wedding party, but first i had to do something. i said something like, 'i'm going to introduce the wedding party in a second, but first, something just doesn't feel right... i just don't feel comfortable yet...' i go into a back room and haul out this god-awful squeaky ugly red chair. the bride and groom just about lose it they are laughing so hard. this ugly red chair was from the groom's old place - it was the chair i ALWAYS sat in when we watched flames games. they had thrown it out a couple months before the wedding and i scooped it/stored it for this special day. then i grabbed a flames flag i had hanging from a stand and set that up and then followed that up by sticking a big flames decal to the podium (so every pic taken it looked like it was a flames press conference). i then grabbed a bunch of red flames jerseys for the groom/groomsmen. during lots of flames games we'd order the exact same pizza for dinner, so i had one delivered right around the time the main course was served - so the guys in the wedding party could enjoy a few slices together!

it was great - definitely a wedding that most guests would not soon forget.

***oh... to stop the glass tapping = kiss.... we had a mini net & mini sticks... you had to come in and do a dangle/trick shot into the mini net to get the bride/groom to pucker up
