It means it has to be a good place for chinese people to drive 40 minutes to get to it.
Especially when there are so many sushi places in richmond.
I've eaten at the fish market in Tokyo. Nao is just as good.

MMF should simply be universally referred to as a "bad threesome" just so that there's never any confusion.
He isn't the first one to say they didn't like it, though he's the first GUY I've heard admit that, assuming Gargamel is a guy.

There was a place I used to go to in Maple Ridge that used to give you nigiri pieces 3cm x 10cm for the same price that other places gave you little thumb sized pieces. I can't complain about the quality either.
I think it was called Sushi King or something like that.

I've actually had it the Tojo roll, despite my complaining about California Rolls earlier. The thing about Tojo's is it's better than normal sushi joints, but does not warrant the price. A california roll there is very expensive but also very small.
I would say that Tojo's is 20% or so better than your top end reasonably priced sushi joint. It costs 5-6 times the price though.
When I went to Tojo's I spent over $200 for a meal for two...afterwards we were still hungry and went somewhere else for more. And, in reality, there are only so many ways you can prepare raw fish. There are places in Vancouver I'd much rather go for $30-40 per person and be full afterwards.

^Did you get the Omakase or order off the menu? I have had Omakase there three times and have never left anything but extremely satisfied. The general top-end reasonably priced (whatever that means, $30 per person?) in Van is good, but not memorable. I can remember each meal at Tojo's and what was served to us and how it tasted.

Off the menu. Did you get the 5 or 6 course meal. I'd be willing to give it another go.

I guess you don't live in Van. there is no way you can get to Nao from Richmond in 15 minutes.
WTF is up with no left hand turning lanes in Vancouver? Makes it a 3rd world city. terrible.

Trust me I'v been there plenty of times and the roads are not the issue. It's like chinatown drivers here but multiplied a 100 times..

I've done both though they both ended up being more courses than advertised (when we had the 5 course one it was 7 courses, oddly enough). I find the best way to do it is with no or minor restrictions - i.e. I was with a vegetarian at one point but she ate seafood so basically "no land fare" was as much guidance as we gave. Letting someone that good at his craft just do his own thing is the best way to go.

Depending on time of day, you can make that drive in 25 minutes. 40 is a bit much.

Tell that to the people who can get from anywhere in Airdrie to anywhere in Calgary in 20 minutes.

The Asian Buffet on Wednesday nights at the Grey Eagle Casino is fun to go to. Lots of sushi and wasabi, along with a great number of other dishes. The salad bar is great also. Price is reasonable. Go early.

I'm not saying that it's bad, but my unpopular opinion is that the whole is not better than the sum of its parts. Better to have two twosomes than to have to worry about whether one of them is being neglected.
