Yesterday on an impulse some friends and I picked up tickets to Governors Ball. While the lineup isn't all world at half the price of Coachella and an opportunity to visit NYC it just made a lot of sense. Has anyone been? Any tips/advice?

Pretty happy about my decision to do Coachella over Sasquatch...looks like it's going to be a pretty rough year for headliners at most festivals this year.

At first glance Diiv, Empire of the Sun and P.O.S. are at Saquatch and not Coachella?

Yep, definitely glad I'm going to Coachella. Not that Sasquatch is terrible, well the headliners are pretty weak, but the under card is okay.

DIIV is playing Coachella, not sure who P. O. S. are?

I would have loved to see Twin Shadow and Solange at Coachella, but other than that there's not a whole lot at Sasquatch I would be upset to miss.

oohh....tough choice. Both festivals with very weak headliners but fantastic secondary bands. Men, I'll probably try and hit up Outside Lands this year.

Better known as being part of Doomtree but also a decent solo artist from Minnesota. Empire of the Sun was one of the better acts at Coachella two years ago. New album comming out this year.

Empire of the Sun would be an amazing late-night show at Sasquatch. They were pretty wild at Coachella two years ago.

I've been to the last 2, but this year is going to be a new animal with the increased number of days and (I assume) increased number of stages. Overall the last 2, and other festivals I've been to at the same location, we're pretty good. The ability of the organizers to adapt to the demands of a bigger festival has me a little concerned, but hopefully they've learned enough the last few years to make it work.

The biggest issue is going to be transportation. There are four options, ferry, bus, car or walking.

The ferry is great on the way there, especially if it's non-peak, as you get a nice 15 minute or so ride up the river and nobody really cares if you spend that time drinking. The ride back is a completely different story. Either be prepared to leave a bit early or spend a long time in a line to get on a packed ferry. It's also a boat full of wasted people and it has steep stairs that are easy to fall down (not that I ever did that ).

I've never done the bus, but it sounds miserable. I'm assuming car isn't an option so I'll leave that out.

That leaves walking, which is likely the path I'll choose this year. It's not a short walk from the closest subway, but I'd imagine it'll take less time than it would to wait for a ferry and the ferry terminal is a few blocks from transportation itself. There is a foot bridge at the far south end of the island that isn't always open, but if they keep it open later than usual for the concert it would be a good option. There's also the footpath along the vehicle bridge which will drop you a little further north in Manhattan.

Let me know if you have any other questions I can attempt to answer.

Coachella's lineup is very weak this year.... surprised people here are looking forward to it more here than Sasquatch.

Really? Almost all the good bands playing Sasquatch are playing Coachella...plus Coachella has a ton more.

Stone Roses? Blur? New Order? Nick Cave twice? Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Modest Mouse? Pick any 3 bands from Coachella's subheadliners and they would still be better than Sasquatch's headliners. How the hell does Macklemore headline a major music festival? And Mumford & Sons are terrible, I would rather see RHCP than them and I really really hate RHCP

Lol Stone Roses and Blur. Would take Macklemore over any of those you listed. Shows you how bad the lineup is.

SNA (Orange County) or Ontario would have been good options. SNA airport especially is really easy to get in and out of.
