			Thanks for that devo!
I'm going to disagree with you on one thing about Kulak though. If he gets traded, great, but if he doesn't it's not a huge loss especially when Donny Hay is the coach. He's heralded as one of the best developmental coaches in the CHL, so I'm okay with Kulak sticking in Vancouver, even if that means he's in a losing environment.

I guess it sort of brings us back to that question of "is it better for a player to be the best player on a poor team or the best player on a good team?"

I think it will be good for Kulak to be the go-to guy on defense for a rebuilding team with an excellent coach.

Just cuz he's a hockey player he should not be forgiven, given a second chance.

He should see some serious jail time and only after that he should be allowed to play.

I never said anything against that. I just said under the given rules, I imagine he'll get a contract.

The Beanpot tournament begins tomorrow. BC will be taking on Harvard on the road. Gaudreau was named MVP last year.

Harvard's record so far this season is 5-14-1, so it should be an easy win for BC to get to the Beanpot final. Hope Johnny can light it up.

Well, on the road is a relative term. Isn't all games at the TD Gardens?

Devo's thoughtful write-up makes me wonder where the Hockey News will have the Flames ranked this year in their prospect rankings in about a month's time. I still subscribe to that magazine basically only for the draft and prospect rankings issues. Probably won't be in the top half, but it'll be interesting, I think.
 Any guesses?

The hockey news is utter garbage, I would wonder momre why anyone still reads that trash. It's a waste of money.

Yeah, generally it's not good. Poorly written, poorly researched, poorly edited... the only issue I ever buy is the draft guide since it's the only issue that doesn't tend to be filled with stuff I already know or already know to be false.

I find that also. Not that I'm knowledgeable, but because what they publish about the Flames most of us know because of this site, the Herald, Sun, or the Fan960.

They need to think outside the box more, and maybe become more "hard hitting" (Think 60 Minutes but about hockey, which would probably bore many fans).

One example of an issue that I remember from YEARS ago that I thought was particularly interesting was where a reporter from each NHL team would become the faux g.m. for the team he/she covered. Each reporter would then make deal with other g.m.'s. I would find it interesting to see how that would play today with salary caps, etc.

BTW..In that issue the well respected journalist who covered the Flames made a deal involving Joel Otto with the the guy who covered the Rangers for Jody Hull and Darren Turcotte. Thank God Cliff Fletcher never made this deal.

Johnny Gaudreau and Jon Gilles have been named to the list of 16 semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award given annually to the top American-born collegiate player in New England.

So we hear a lot of talk about Gaudreau, but I was just curious about his team mate Arnold?
Is there any hype surrounding this kid? Expectations?

Lower ceiling, higher floor.

Arnold's a very smart player. Performed well at the World Juniors last year. Good in all three zones. Isn't nearly as offensively creative as Gaudreau, but won't face as many hurdles due to his size.

Arnold projects to be a Max Reinhart type with a bit more size and physicality to his game.

Ferland has 2 goals and 1 assist tonight as Saskatoon has a 7-1 lead over Prince Albert midway through the third period. Right now, his second of the night would be the game-winner.

You can sure tell Ferland was rusty as heck from sitting around all year.
First 4 games with Brandon - 1 goal, 1 assist
First 7 games with Blades - 1 goal, 2 assists
Last 6 games with Blades - 6 goals, 7 assists (including tonight, 6 game point streak)

I sure hope this kid comes to camp ready to go next year, and at the very least earns and keeps a full time gig with the Heat. Size, toughness, and the ability to score. We need a kid like that to develop into an effective NHLer.
