I walked around downtown on Saturday night for two hours trying to get a cab, but this is what the person thinks is a major issue?

Im actually surprised there isnt more of this scamming (there probably is but people dont think that these add up).
Are we going to spend less money to police this than we are losing from people scamming low income passes?

If not, then this is a pointless endeavour.

So, uh, who are these post-secondary students going to sell this sticker to? Other post-secondary students already have a UPass sticker. What's Joe Blow off the street going to do, put the sticker on their driver's licence? Their debit card? Costco membership card?

Post secondary students who aren't full time, and can't buy the upass if they wanted to. Recent (or not so recent) graduates who kept their ID card.

Some of us are "recent" grads who work downtown and want to take the train for cheap...

I have a student ID still, and it'd be easy to get a U-PASS and ride for free.

In fact, there've been U-PASSes for sale on CP!

What part of downtown were you in that it took you 2 hours to get a cab?

LOL, I guess I didn't think recent grads would be that desperate for a UPass.

In my experience if you're taking the train you might as well just not pay at all. I've lived in Calgary my whole life and I've never been asked for proof of fare.

UPASS was $117 this semester, and it's good from January 1, 2013 to April 30, 2013.

That's under $30/month which is a fantastic deal.

I left the Melrose at like 2:15 am ( I usually leave at like 1:30 from a bar to avoid this scenario but I was with some friends I hadn't seen in years). Walked up and down 17th avenue for about 1 hour with no luck. I than walked down to 4th Avenue with no luck. Finally got a cab at the Westin at about 4:10. Man was I ever pissed off. This city is a joke when it comes to transportation. I'm sure that little idiot John Mar would probably consider it the bars fault I couldn't get home though.
