Ruegsegger scores! 2-0 Heat. Primary assist from Lamb. God I love way Lamb has been playing this last month or so.

EDIT - 5th goal of the season for Ruegsegger. He's probably the best fourth liner the Heat have ever had. No joke.

I hope he's not hurt, but I REALLY hope it's not one of those "I should be in the N.H.L so I'm pouting now" situations.

However, although I agree with the "meritocracy theme" in principle, I think teams really need to be careful with young players who just aren't mature enough to get what "meritocracy" really means, and just view their "benching" as just a benching and learn nothing from it.

Of course, a bad attitude may not be a cause of Roman's not playing, and it probably isn't, but I worry that the meritocracy rule can be a little overdone.

It could be that with Sven out the Flames' are planning to call Horak up tomorrow and don't want him getting hurt tonight.

Haven't heard anything of him being hurt and don't think the heat have the offense to scratch him without reason.

That's a valid concern to have. However, I really don't think it applies with Horak right now. Horak has one of the best attitudes in the organization and I can't see him pouting.

Like flames_fan13 said, the Heat can't afford to sit any offense right now. If he's not hurt, maybe he's getting called up.

Byron scores! 3-0 Heat early in the third. Assists to Reinhart and Lamb. Each of those guys have two assists tonight.

3-0 Heat now. Byron has been really strong, and Lamb (!) wow. This guy is amazing.

The month of January has been very very good to Lamb. I suppose losing McCarthy and Brodie has alot to do with it. It was just a matter of finding a groove.

Good to hear Lamb and Max are turning it around.

I still haven't lost faith in Byron either. I think he's got NHL potential still, at least from what I saw of him last season with the Flames.

Just needs more of an opportunity.

Am I out to lunch with that opinion?

Apparently someone over at the Abbotsford Heat recognizes talent when it walks into their building twice a week, because Mike’s been officially hired into the Heat’s media department as a “rising star” (or maybe a coffee-making intern). As the guy who’s worked with Mike most closely at The Cascade I really hate to see so much talent leave, but then again, I’m very happy to see an arts major get a job he loves, working with a sport that he’s scarily obsessed by.

Hahaha thanks Ashasx! Really excited to be working for the Heat. Six months ago I would've never thought in a million years that I'd be working for a professional hockey organization, never mind working for my favourite team's affiliate.

Congratulations! The Heat must now stay in Abbotsford.

One "Pierre McGuire" I actually like.

Mike's a good egg, despite living in the greater Vancouver area.

Just read the news! Congrats PMM!

Of all the posters on CP I look forward to your contributions in the back burner the most. Or is that brown-nosing now that you work for the Heat?

Lamb is an example of how a player's confidence rises with more icetime.

I understand the reasons for 'earning' your icetime, but the flipside is that you have to show faith in them too and give them the opportunity to grow.

I wonder what this is about. Kolanos was suspended by the Heat apparently, according to the AHL transactions page: http://theahl.com/stats/transactions.php

Maybe you don't know what it is about, but maybe "Mike" does
