But I do think the fanbase is becoming increasingly delusional. Maybe we've just watched so much bad hockey that we are losing perspective on what competitive NHL hockey actually looks like.
Leafs West. And I'm seriously starting to think that maybe I should just find a new team to follow, because I'm starting to lose interest in watching a bad team in a really impractical timezone that's not showing signs of being good in the foreseeable future. Honestly without this board it propably would have happened already. I mean, I'm not from Calgary, I don't live there, and there seems to be an ever diminishing number of players in the roster that I specifically like.
(Of course, that's not how it really works. But I've always kinda liked Minny...)

can't disagree with that....just the reaction to the TSN prediction (and the previous years) have been telling me that. Not sure if people really believe what they post as predictions, but boy, there were some doozys

Iginla were are you ? The guy looks like he's playing scared has no drive to the net dosnt even look like a guy playing for his next contract he needs to be bumped down to the third line and see how he likes it down there cause the guy is getting out played by Stajan.

Boumeester wiffed on the puck behind the goal line, let his man go and Kipper was not strong against the post. = game.

The game was 3-3 going into the last 2 minutes given the following:
- Kipper playing like a bum
- Butler trying to throw the game
- Glencross doing his best Bourque impression
- Cammalleri being invisible, wait not even invisible, worse than invisible, better off short handed
- Backlund not being able to bury on 2 amazing chances
I'm not writing this team off yet, but some of the above need to figure it out...as for positives:
- Hudler/Cervenka/Stajan
- Bouwmeester and Wideman look good
- Backlund is generating lots of chances and looks dangerous
- Stempniak

haha, I could totally see them saying that, then getting Iginla on for his mandatory 5 minute "we thought we had the team, we did a lot of good things, we just needed to be better in the shootouts and we would have been in the playoffs" speech before he heads off to Kelowna for his offseason.

All theree need to be called out. So bfar they are the worst of the team, worst than Jones but better than Comeau.
No employer can wait until an employee to warm up to perform. All we get is a quick coffee in the morning and we have to perform.
No more excuses on slow start year after year!!

When Baertschi returns:
Glencross to 2nd line.
Cammi sits. If Glencross continues, swap Cammi. Jackman was awesome last night too, give him 2nd line time and move Glencross to the 4th.
Baertschi Tanguay Iginla
Glencross Backlund Stempniak
Hudler Stajan Cervenka
Jackman Jones Begin

So 5 games in, that's like 10 games prorated. Meaning 'november to remember' would commence approximately February 15th?

This team had 2 points for the taking in the final stages of the third period in a game they could have easily won.
No chance they're worse than Florida, Washington or Columbus right now.
This season is nowhere near done for this team.

You're absolutely correct.
However, we've seen this movie over and over and over. Crappy start to the season, some pushback around the middle to appear close, only to whimper away down the final stretch.
That's the precident that i think is resulting in the lack in any confidence by the fans at the moment.

Teams make the playoffs and win championships by beating the teams that they should beat and occasionally beating the teams that they have no business beating.
The Flames gave away points tonight that they really should have had.

Well crap. that totally sucked.
Blame totally falls on Kipper on Hartley on this one. I think if the Flames go in to the first intermission with that 1-0 lead the outcome would have been different.
Hopefully Hartley follows up with his reward system by benching Cammy.
Also can't wait for the next 5 games when Kipper makes all these Kipper hater shut their pie holes. It happens every year.

There's no way a team with Washington's talent keeps playing the way it has. And the Panthers have more reason for optimism than the Flames. But yeah, the Flames are a better team than Columbus.

cammalleri has been pretty meh offensively, but at least he isn't a liability.
Kipper had a bad night for sure.
Butler, the guy sucks, needs to continue to sit out. Smith > Butler, not sure how anyone can counter that statement.

Cammy needs to be benched. Butler needs to be waived/traded/bought out whatever it takes for him to be far far away from us. Kipper needs to wake the hell up.
You knew Avs were going to come out hard when Duchene said in an interview with Millions that they need to win this because 3-4 is a lot better than being 2-5, you could see how determined he was to get the win.
