Apparently speaking the truth is a bad thing. Yep we've played only 5 games.

Looking at the next 7 games we could conceivably be sitting at 3-8-1 by February 15th.

Only two of the next seven are easy and thats columbus and detroit.

Oh wait Colorado was supposed to be 2 gimme points as everybody on Sportsnet was saying. It's losing games like this which cost you those points that get you into the playoffs. You shouldn't find ways to lose against teams where their entire first line is injured or not playing.

I will admit the two czechs have been a damn good surprise. Was a lot of fun watching them on the ice.

I just don't get how we can be so bloody bad. When you look at our team on paper it looks fairly solid through the entire line up.

I'm really hoping they start Irving against Chicago and he puts up an amazing performance. Hopefully Hartley can give him a chance to show that he can shine at this level.

Thus far Kipper has been very mediocore.

2 weeks ago I laughed at us being 14.

Now I'm content with 14th. Bring on Barkov.

I'm pretty sure this thread would get bumped if we were 4-1 too just to brag about how stupid TSN is.

So far this team has not proved it is anything but a 14th place team. They have the pieces to be more than a 14th place team, but they really have not played as a team yet.

Technically TSN is wrong as we're in 15th instead of 14th.

That was my thought too.

I used to have quite a bit of fun with mainflame back in the day when I used to post on this forum.

I'm willing to bet this is the reincarnation of MF. He is definitely a little more wordy, as he's used to excel at drive-by's but people grow, right?

I don't get people saying this. This team has been on the steady decline since it Stanely Cup run on 2004. They did add a few good complimentary pieces but they have failed to change the core, instead they insist on rehashing the core (Tangs, Cammy).

Until hey decide to truely change we will be stuck cheering for a mediocre team at best. A team that does NOT have the pieces to be anything more than a 9th to 16th place team.

I think you need to wait until after 12 games, 25% of the way in before you can really say anything.

After putting up with no hockey for 4 months I am just happy to watch the Flames again. This is a year where drafting top 3 and having multiple first round picks could set a team up in the future so I hope we either make the playoffs or make big changes and rebuild

Can't hate the work Feaster has done considering his mandate. Picking up Hudler, Cervenka, and Wideman all seem like good moves and even though Cammy is struggling I still make that trade with the Habs.

yup, i don't think i disagree. i think the anger/frustration, at least for myself, was a result of the "new season' over-the-top optimism that perhaps if all the stars aligned the team could actually beat the odds and be a playoff caliber team.

I think many folks, myself included had the flames anywhere from 8th to 11th in the conference. All things considered, i think everyone would be ok if the standings at the trade deadline looked like they do today, than if the team moved up to 9th-11th (likely even 8th considering the inevitable first round whalloping).

i'll be watching the games regardless of the results... however, think fans really need to temper their expectations of this roster.

I think a lot of the frustration is coming from the complete lack of meritocracy that management preaches.

It's a real piss off to watch cammy suck wind day in day out and have him continue to get more ice time than backlund hudler cervenka stempniak and Sven. Iginla included I think these guys need to put the hot players on the ice.

Smith plays great in his role and gets benched. I'm sure the rest of the team is excited to have butler back too.

That's what gets me the most anyways. Players aren't held accountable for not showing up.
