Meh. He is a kid. From Russia. I'd be excited too if I didn't have to drive a Lada.

He scores big time highlight reel goals. Who should the attention be on? Hemsky?

I agree, it's not a bad thing at all.
I think his celebrations stir the pot, that's cool.
I think Morris feeding him or is team mates their lunch is also cool.
Makes the game way more interesting and it will sort it's self out.

He wasn't doing a taunting gesture.
After his celebration against LA, some of his teammates (Horcoff/Belanger) felt that he should just stay in one spot rather then have to chase him across the ice so he did. He was using his hands to waive over Hall, Whitney and Hemsky to celebrate as a team. Morris was upset because he thought Whitney hand passed it to Yakupov (which in fact was a legal play anyways).

If that's the case then he's just acting like a goof. His teammates are grown men, they don't need to be ushered over to celebrate the goal with him.

I agree this is possible. It's also possible he was taunting. You don't know if he was or wasn't tauting, none of us do. What seems likely is Morris took it as taunting.

At least we have the Yakupov thread now, we can ignore the "Schultz is not going to be a good NHLer thread"

Agreed, if he was ushering his team mates over, then he's saying to them "come celebrate my great accomplishment with me" which is weird, and not what I think he was doing.

Kind of OT but on the subject.
I'm not sure how many people were at the Canada/Russia WJ game last year or if they showed it on TV but after that win and the way the Russians acted the league and fans better get used to this new wave of Russians.

So why punch Whitney? lol. Punch the ref if you're that upset with the call. Morris is what he is, a thug.

I think the word you mean to use is PLUG, Morris is nothing close to a thug but I guess compared to the Oilers...

I'm no Morris fan, I'd call him lots of things. A thug seems wrong though, not sure he's shown much "thuggery" in his career.

Wow. Strangely enough I never thought I'd be in a position where I would be defending Fatty "The Holdout" Morris.

Because we're so nice to the Russians normally...
Look, if we're going to boo teenagers relentlessly for the way they play a game, when they come into our building and embarrass our team, they have every right to give it right back to us. And it's on us to not be children about it.
If guys don't like Yakupovs celebrations, maybe they should work harder to prevent him from scoring. Maybe Yakupov is motivated to humiliate opponents as much as he is to beat them. Sports are as much about mind games as they are about the physical, so it's not a stretch to imagine.

Why punch a player when you could punch an official. Brilliant.

Standing at the glass making tearing motions towards the fans and jerking off your goalie stick and pretending to throw it at the fans isn't over the top? I was sitting second row at the end of the ice that it was occuring. I get the enthusiasm and such but to go out of the way to actually stand at the glass and do those sort of gestures is...I don't know, I've never seen anything like that in my 20 years of watching hockey at all levels.
I'm just saying be prepared but also expect those antics to be responded to. The time will come where Yakupov will have to answer the bell if he continues.

Fake crying is one thing, and it may even be justified considering how much more we as a nation are into the wjhc compared to the rest of the world. And yes, jerking off a goalie stick is over the top. There are ####### ways to celebrate, and then there are just some flamboyant, showman like ways to celebrate. Until Yakupov grabs his dick, I'll assume he's the latter.
