I agree with you but it makes huge sense financially, I suspect Hansen would be very motivated to help the league put together an ownership group to defray some of his costs.

I feel bad for the 'Yotes fans, this has to be one of the longest breakups ever.

I think the league knew all along where things were at. Jamison's efforts would appear to be a bit of a smoke-show.

I suspect the Plan "B" mystery investors are a pipe dream. The new City of Glendale council appears to be less Coyote friendly than the last bunch, and may drive a harder bargain on the lease which might make attracting other investors even more difficult.

The new Seattle arena won't be ready for years. Not sure what the NHL's plan is but I would think Quebec is the most likely dance partner.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman wants the league to be coast-to-coast. And with Jets moving from Atlanta to Winnipeg last season the NHL doesn’t want its sponsors and U.S. television partner, NBC Sports, thinking the league is contracting geographically.
Given the NHL has used the Coyotes situation to set Markham/GTA and Quebec into frenzies that will lead to massive expansion deals, moving the Coyotes to Seattle makes a lot of sense - if they are serious about owning a team there. It would also be beneficial for the geographical balance of the conferences.

Yeah, it's made sense for a while now. The holdup is waiting for the Sacramento Kings deal to be finalized, so that the Seattle arena gets the go ahead. Key arena is crappy for hockey but can seat 15,177 so it could be used as a stopgap.

Glendale mayor: Jamison asks for extension on Coyotes deal

http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...otes-deal.html

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said an attorney representing Jamison called him late Wednesday night to ask for an extension on a lucrative arena-management deal.

Weiers told The Arizona Republic that he was contacted by a well-known local attorney representing Jamison after 9 p.m. Wednesday to request an extension on the deadline.

Weiers declined to identify the attorney, but said he told the attorney that he had no intention to extend the deadline. The mayor carries just one of seven votes on the City Council, but his position appears to mirror the overall mood of the council, which has four newly seated members.

“The bottom line is that Jamison himself hasn’t talked with me,” Weiers said. “I do know that a group trying to help Jamison or trying to get involved with Jamison – however you want to word it – they’re trying to figure out a way to keep his deal afloat.”

Weiers said of extending the deadline: “Obviously, we’re not going to do that.”

Weiers also said that he was contacted late Wednesday night by representatives of two separate groups who expressed interest in buying the Coyotes and keeping the team in Glendale if Jamison fails to purchase the team.

The mayor declined to identify the two new groups. He said he could not immediately access the genuineness of the apparent new suitors.

If PHO moves to Seattle next year, the Pacific DIV will look really odd with 4 teams that are a stones throw from the ocean plus... Dallas which is 2000km from the ocean. If not for that pesky border, we could boot Dallas and insert VAN and a have a real Pacific division.

Less Canucks visits to the Dome makes troutman happy.

When, not if, Jamison's house of cards collapses, look for Calgary oil $$ to try to ride to Bettman's rescue in Phoenix.

You'll see the radical realignment attached to any such move.

As a stop-gap, they could do something silly like swap Colorado into the Pacific, Winnipeg into the Northwest, Dallas into the Central and Columbus into the Southeast.

Poor George:

http://nebulousverbosity.com/?p=3023

There is no reason to believe that there is ANY problem getting everything finished in advance of the January 31 deadline to consummate all the parts of the Coyotes sale.

Even without the official closing happening in time for the home opener, it is imminent. Despite rumors of missing investors, lacking money, etc. ALL of the pieces are in place for the sale to be completed. So what is the hangup now? I have no clue, but my worry meter is pegged nearly at zero.

Dallas to the SE and Columbus in the Central makes more sense

Coyotes fans. Do me a favor. If you expect Jamison to make a positive announcement, as I do - please RT two words: I BELEVE.

I Believe (spelled correctly)

It's cruel what these Coyote fans have had to put up with.

I'd look for the NHL to go ahead with their re-alignment into 7 and 8 team divisions sorted by time zones. All the west coast teams along with the Alberta teams in one division. Maybe one team from the CTZ moving to the coastal division with Winnipeg drawing the short straw. This will allow for two expansion teams to join the East.
