Try ZMA.

Basically a combination of zinc, magnesium and Vitamin B6. It won't make you fall asleep faster, but once you're asleep, it can help you sleep through the night.

I usually just take zinc and magnesium citrate(the good kind) a couple times every week, and it works pretty good. Studies have shown that most people in North America are deficient in both.

You are both correct. It depends on what risk factors you have for MI/Stroke.

People at risk of MI/stroke live longer on average if they take an aspirin a day.

Healthy people see very little benefit yet very small but significant risks.

Good sex is the best cure for insomnia, as long as there's no cuddling afterwards.

In the absence of good sex, probably firing off a couple of kneckle babies

I get insomnia all the time. When it gets to the point where nothing helps. I smoke a joint and I am out. Sleep cycle resets and I am good. And I don't smoke the stuff unless its a bad case of insomnia.

Past 3 months? I have been lucky to get no more than 4 hours sleep a night for the past 25 years usually 3 tops. I get an average of 20 hours of sleep during a week. I expect it will kill me young, and I am starting to see the health effects taking it's toll on me now.

Get it in check before there is nothing that will help.

If you can't sleep get out of bed and do something productive to take your mind off the problem of not sleeping. I sometimes pull out my walkman CD player and listen to music to relax me.

Exercise is great for helping you sleep. Try doing a 1/2 hour a day.

Anxiety will cause you not to sleep well.

See a doctor if it presists.

I find not doing anything significantly difficult in your life tends to cure insomnia. I am the worst at sleeping. Third night up in a row.

I've always have weird dreams even as a kid. They are very vivid and, in fact, I've learned to love my nightmares - I challenge them and try to defeat the antagonist. Also they give me great ideas! Weird? Perhaps... So I may not be the expert here to comment about that issue.

I've only been taking them for a month but they are working really well for me.

I agree with all that dream stuff, I tend to do great writing after weird dreams. I like weird dreams. When I had troubles with nightmares as a kid, I learned to control them as well.

However these dreams were different. It's not really like there is a 'protagonist' to confront or anything like that. Just feelings of dread, paranoia, reduced self worth, etc. However I do seem to be having to deal with increasing sleep apnea and sleep paralysis so there could be more to it.

I just found it didn't work very well for me and when I asked about it, I found my complaints were actually common. I wouldn't have thought that the 'dream' part would as I wouldn't think that which basically amounts to a supplement could affect your brain that deeply.
