I still dont understand why the NHL would give Jamison or any other perspective buyer 6 months "to raise the required capital". A buyer should only be considered if they have cash in hand. If nobody wants to or is able to meet this criteria in the local market, then move the team to a market where someone is prepared to come to the table with real money (a la the Winnipeg Jets)

Not only that but if he is having this much difficulty raising the dough to buy the team, where in the hell is going to get the cash to keep it afloat once he buys it?

Because there are no other takers and the league is desperate to sell.

I assume the NHL knows it can move to quebec in the same amount of time it took to move to winnipeg. If you announce they are moving now attendance drops to zero for the rest of the coyotes season and the owners are on the hook for the losses.

If you pretend to have another phantom investor until phoenix is out of the playoffs you can maximize this years revenues. I would suspect this buyer disappears at the end of april and the team is moved.

I don't think there are enough potential owners with the cash to buy a NHL team so Gary has to entertain buyers using other people's money.

Maybe the Thrashers' 'Balkan' will resurface.

Former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison, the main suitor for the Phoenix Coyotes for the past year, cannot produce the capital needed to purchase the team from the NHL and as a result a Jan. 31 deadline to maintain a critical lease agreement with the City of Glendale will pass without a deal being completed, multiple sources have told ESPN.com.

A separate group of investors is prepared to step into the void created by Jamison's failure to produce the money he repeatedly insisted he would deliver to complete the deal, but the question is whether Glendale officials will agree to extend the lease agreement to a new group given that it was Jamison who negotiated the terms of the highly contentious lease deal.

There is a section of 7 empty seats in a row right next to the visitor bench, row 1.

I'd be surprised if there were 9 thousand people there.

I already know the answer to this (you can all guess what it is) but why doesn't Jamison get together with these investors and they can seal the deal before Thursday? The next lease agreement won't be as good as the current one, that's a given, so why not make a deal?

Because the second group of investors is Manti Te'o's girlfriend.

I completely agree that there are other possible investors: Peladeau in Quebec, people in Seattle, people in Markham...
