Bargs should be amnestied? Are you kidding me? A guy when he's on, can shoot the lights out and he's as mobile as a 7' as you're going to get. At $10M a year, he's got a more than managable contract. I'm as frustrated a fan as any with the guy, but no way he's an amnesty player at that value.

As for tonights game, I don't know how to describe the shat reffing. I can't believe yet again the Raps get shafted on a beatdown buzzer foul that was so obvious, but doesn't get called. It's to the point now where the league may as well say they don't give a damn what happens to the team, because their refs certainly don't get repremanded for such bad misses.

Oh, and I forgot to add, I don't think Colangelo is in a position to make a deal to save his butt. I'm sure every major deal like this goes through the corporate circles before being approved, and if there was any inkling he'd do it in his own interests rather than the franchises, he'd be let go. If anything, the board of directors is putting pressure on him to make the playoffs this year. Listening him tonight at the game, without hesitation he said he wasn't done dealing, so let's see what he's up to.

Yes 7', but plays soft as butter. He can't rebound at all, openly admitted the Raptors were one of the worst teams to the media back at home and generally is anemic to this team's offense. The day Andrea Bargnani leaves the Raptors is the day we finally see a culture change with this franchise. No team will look to trade for him, unless we take back a terrible contract like Stoudemire or Gasol. He's a solid scorer, but it's more of an identity thing involved here. Fans are sick of him and want to move on.

Calderon looked gutted and he is being tossed around like poop right now. All he knows is that he isnt a raptor. He oesnt know if he is going to detroit or memphis or dallas or aother team. I like the guy and hope he gets treated better pretty soon.

Davis was apparently inconsolable according to TSN.

Interesting. Part of me was hoping the Raptors would reunite Gasol and Calderon, but i guess not.

Loved Calderon, but he was very overrated by Raptors fans. Time for a change.

Yeah, as much as I like the trade I definitely feel for the outgoing guys. Both are good, character guys who did everything who was asked of them. But good opportunities for both: Calderon will get to pick his situation in the offseason, and Davis will get a chance to learn and be around winners in Memphis.

I like the trade. Never was a huge fan of Calderone. TBH haven't really followed the development of Ed Davis outside of the fact I loved that they drafted a Tarheel.

I am more interested to see what else Colangelo has hiding up his sleeve in regards to trades. Getting Bargnani out seems the most likely move.

If you were trying to get a great core now, who would you trade your first for?

Again I havent followed NBA as closely in the last few years so I am kind of out of the Loop.

Sad to see Ed Davis go, he was becoming my favourite Raptor. I guess you have to give up talent to get talent. Excited to see what Gay can do for the Raptors.

I'm pretty sure whatever team gives up a 1st rounder to us, will be a team that's in immense pressure by their ownership to make a deal. I don't think Colangelo would bother dealing Bargnani for a late 1st, so which teams are basically on the edge of making the playoffs, that haven't done so in awhile, and ownership is harping on them to make the playoffs now? Or maybe straight up pressure - Houston, Orlando?

Don't kid yourself, this is a money move for memphis. Reaction from Mike Conley was "wow" their starting PG. The coach did not wana lose any of his starting 5.

This is a good move. I like Davis and he's played well but with JV, Amir, Bargs (I know he sucks) there weren't going to be enough minutes. Get a guy like Gay and make it his team.

Lowry, Gay, Ross should run the offence. Time to ship out Bargs, DeRozen and the rest of the junk.

I actually think Lowry/Ross/Gay/Amir/JV has potential in the future.

Its a money move that gets rid of a bad apple and guy that dominates the ball way too much for providing so little efficiency. Good move for Memphis on and off the court.

If Amir is going to hold anyone back on this team it shows just how little talent there is. He looks like he tries hard but is just so awful that it doesn't make much difference.

I think Amir and Lowry have been showing a lot of chemistry with one-another since Lowry came back from his injury. Though it looked like Amir was close with both Calderon and Davis, so this is probably pretty hard on him.

One of the most successful 5-man units the Raptors have had in recent weeks is the smallball lineup of Lowry/Ross/DeRozan/Anderson/Johnson. 82games.com shows this lineup as having an offensive rating of 1.34 pts scored per possession, and .89 points allowed per possession. On paper, simply swapping in Gay for Anderson should make an even better smallball lineup. I know people are all over the fact that Gay isn't a particularly great passer and is too much a chucker, but when you swap him in for Anderson (which is where the bulk of his minutes will come from, it'll probably create more ball movement. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that being Casey's crunch-time lineup for the time being.

Both he and Valanciunas should be back within the upcoming homestand. I've heard this weekend for both, but wouldn't be surprised if they're held out until the Celtics game next week.

how many minutes? sample size is probably an issue since that lineup is so small that nobody can really guard a big except for amir unless they maybe play zone

18 minutes, which makes it the fifth-most-common lineup involving Lowry since he came back from injury. So not a big sample-size, but not insignificant either. But all of the small-ball lineups using both Lowry and Ross have been statistically effective thus far, including ones that use Fields instead of Anderson or DeRozan, or Davis instead of Johnson.
I'm not really big on using complex stats for basketball because I think so much of the game isn't statistically captureable, but these are lineups that stand out to me as being effective when I'm watching the game, too.
