Is Great Britain the same as the UK?
No, Great Britain and the United Kingdom refer to different areas.
Great Britain is very often, but incorrectly, used as a synonym for the sovereign state properly known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the UK for short.
If you look at the full name of the UK, you will see that the UK includes Great Britain AND Northern Ireland.

Great Britain
United Kingdom Great Britain is a political term which describes the combination of England, Scotland, and Wales, the three nations which together include all the land on the island. It is also a geographical term referring to the island on which the greater parts of England, Wales and Scotland are situated.

The pedestal jerseys are the best the flames have ever worn.
Temple of Doom is the best Indiana Jones movie.
Winston Churchill was a moron.
I like Ezra Levant (except when he talks about Israel.)
USA is now the dominant world hockey power.
Vancouver is an ugly, depressing city.

I liked the flaming horse head jersey, and I wish they would bring it back as the shoulder patch for the current jersey.

GWB wasn't that bad... his apparent idiocy is a mostly product of being the first POTUS when the internet started to grow up.

Not sure how you can apply "cheap looking interiors" or "bland styling" to Infiniti or Lexus. Acura I could see, but not the other two. Infiniti has some of the most comfortable, well appointed cabins out of anyone and whatever you might say about the Lexus drive not being particularly exciting there's nothing remotely cheap about the feel of those cars. My girlfriend just bought an EX and the thing is fantastic inside.

I drive a truck, work downtown and don't give a crap what anyone thinks. Keep your reasons for why I shouldn't drive it to yourself because I have more valid reasons for why I bought it which you might not even see.

I was wondering when a thread bump was gong to be in order. I know theres been no news from the focus groups end, But there have been some pretty big editorials making a very strong case for the Saab Gripen. One strong point being made is the fact that Saab would allow the jets to be made here in Canada which would create more jobs. Add to that Saab gives out the source code to everyone who buys their jet. Another strong point was made is that buying 165 Saabs would still be far under budget and They can spend the rest of the money on the best weapons for the jets, and still have money left over to replace other aging aircraft in Canadas arsenal. Maybe the wrong thread to post this but I have been watching for any news on the subject.

I love MacDonalds. Late night quarter pounders and chicken nuggets are the best.

That's how the tax system works! I earn money, it's taxed. I pay for a good or service, it's taxed again. That guy pays for something, it's taxed again.

Well actually if you pay for a good or service it's taxed but the guy who collects that GST (who is assumedly a registrant) who then pays for something and gets taxed on it is probably getting an input tax credit on that subsequent GST so his net tax payable is zilch.

No, when that business buys something else, it gets a credit for the tax paid on it.

No wonder so many young people are so heavily in debt, with all the monster houses they think they should have. I have a theory that whatever living space you have, your brain will automatically adjust to make it comfortable. My parents were quite comforable in a 650 sq ft prefab home.
My engagement ring cost me $149.00 in 1960.

I find people in Toronto very friendly. Vancouver on the other hand is insanely cliquey.

I'm reading a 1,000-page biography on Hitler now. The man was a master manipulator who was on the scene at the perfect time. the Great Depression, the Versailles treaty, war reparations to pay, a German economy and currency that were in the toiler all conspired to make his rise happen. It was his perfect storm, and he was a great speaker. He had a skilled propaganda minister in Joseph Goebbles at his side. If one of the 44 or so attempts at assassination had succeeded, history would have been very different. This stuff is fascinating.

I can't stand the faux-urban neighbourhoods in Calgary. Walking down the street in Kensington makes me want to blow my brains out. Literally nothing in any of those areas appeals to me. Only place in the innercity worth living is the Beltline and I still couldn't do it.

I'm a dog lover but I hate pit bulls. I think they are ugly and viscous. If you have kids and own a pit bull, I think you're crazy.
When people tell me they are devoutly religious I automatically think less of them.
Rush has to be the worst band of all time.
