You do know that some guys can still perform after they've had a few beers?

I go through phases when I just don't drink any alcohol at all. The 2 brands of beer I like the most are tough to find here, so I'll switch brands often. If I have a 6pack, it's gone in 2 days, but then I might not buy another for months. Sometimes I'll buy a big bottle of Corona and it lasts 2 weeks.
For some reason I hate seeing women drinking directly from the bottle. At homeis one thing, but I hate it at clubs and restaurants.

There are times when beer tastes like the best thing in the world.
In the shower after you've done anthing like mow the lawn or change the oil in you vehicle, etc.
before during and after golfing.
while bbqing.
the drop of the puck on HNIC.
around a bonfire.
lots more, but those are the ones that come to mind right now. Beer enhances my life, not detriments it.

Please let me not be the kind of wife that gets upset when her husband has a couple beers on a weeknight.

That's twice now that I've seen a poster reference drinking beer in the shower. Is this actually happening?

I used to drink enough to get a serious buzz around once a working week and I drink enough (although it's not always beer) to get full blown slammed at least once during the weekend.
I never drink alone though. I'll never crack a beer and just sit there and watch tv by myself or something like that. I need company.
The beer on weekdays got replaced with another intoxicant that doesn't give you a hangover though Still don't do it alone though.

I brew my own beer. $140 for 140 beer. So for $1 a beer, I drink alot. I usually have 1 Phillips bottle (650 ml) a night until Friday and Saturday. Then it is usually 6-10.
Flames and Stamps games are usually a high input night aswell. It doesn't seem to bother the wife, which is a good thing, cause I like my booze.

A pint a day keeps the doctor away!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...mean-beer.html
So actually, at your current consumption, it's actually sort of healthy.
I would say I probably average about half that, but I don't go out drinking on the weekend as much anymore. Usually have at least two or three beers over the weekend, and usually one after rec hockey during the week. Sometimes I'll have one during the week if I'm BBQing or going out for wings.
The thing that gets me is the calories... 180 calories x 8 pints a week x 52 weeks a year is 74880 calories, and you need to burn about 3500 calories to lose a pound, so it's about 21 pounds a year you could avoid by not drinking beer at all (not quite accurate as the beer calories likely replace some other calories, but you get the drift).

Shower beers are wicked. I agree, after doing a bunch of landscaping or work on your car and showering up to go for dinner in the summer, nothing better than a beer. It's like you're winding down from your chores and getting cleaned up for the night all at once!

I'm over a flat a week, 3-4 weekdays, more on the weekends after rec hockey or other sports I do.
I am married, but I also do 75% of the cooking / cleaning around the house.
I did switch over to light beer a few years ago, but I do catch myself grabbing 2 at a time now...

I hate dealing with the after effects of being drunk. The headaches, the dry mouth, the overall feeling like crap if I drank too much. I hate having to sacrifice a Sunday because I got carried away on the Saturday. Drinking is just not for me anymore. Haven't been drunk in nearly 4 years and I am totally fine with that.

wait, the op said he had 1 - 4 pints on weekend nights. So you are saying that if a person has that many they will not be useful on Sunday, and that's why you told him it was too much.

I've cut back. It all depends on what's going on.
- I may grab a beer after work, but usually I don't these days unless there is a Flames game on.
- If I go out for lunch (usually 2 - 4 times a month) I'll have 2 or 3 (or more in the summer when go out for lunch means sit on a patio and smash beers all afternoon and not go back to work)
- Watching the Flames on a week night I limit myself to 4 tall boys to make sure I don't get carried away.
- Weekend nights range from 4 to ?? depending on what I am doing.
- Golfing always have a few.
My wife used to complain when she was my girlfriend and when we first got married, but like I said, I have cut down and she has grown up. As long as I fulfill my duties as a husband and father, and do my job, she is totally cool.
My suggestion is to tell her it's how you blwo off steam, you could be going out and getting all rowdy with the boys, or you can sit at home and have a pint to unwind. As long as you aren't becoming a ###### when you drink or shirking responsibilities I'd tell her to live with it. She'll either grow to accept it or you have a choice to make. I know what mine would me.

of course! Married people are extremely busy on weekends. Losing a Sunday puts everything behind. There's just no time during the week.
I was also replying to VANFLAMESFAN who said he needed Sunday so recover to he stopped drinking.

Married couples would probably have a lot more free time if they stopped buying crap they don't need at HomeSense.

I don't think a lot of men would fear marriage as much if it wasn't for the useless 'home decor and maintainence' time that actually murders all your free time and fun.
Anyways, I used to be the guy who got hammered each and every Friday and Saturday night and went out on the odd weeknights. Now I just have a few beers on weekends and the occasional beer during the week which usually conincides with watching hockey / football / baseball.
