That's the problem- people don't give out Thanks based on post quality. More often I see it being given out based on somebody posting a funny one liner or picture. And outside of the funny picture thread, it probably is counter productive. Because for every solidly ammusing joke or picture posted, there are probably 100 "bad posts" where people are trying to hard to be funny. (and failing)

If people fail to be funny, they don't get Thanks. The thanks system has been great on Calgarypuck. Remember before when it was one good post followed by seven or 8 "I agree!"

People do give thanks based on quality, if someone makes a great post, it gets thanked a lot. Totally disagree with your assessment of it Ken. It's not perfect but it's 100x better than it was.

Exactly, sometimes a little levity is necessary.

Basterd is damned near always right though....

IMO there's a big difference between being funny, posting images and witty one liners. Cripes, based on my thanks history my quality of posts on this forum is nowhere near what Machiavelli or say Textcritic post. That however doesn't mean I think less of what you post as I do appreciate the witty one liners or humour that you, yeah_baby or flameswin post.

The issue for many comes down to what people consider quality and based on the numbers of thanks each member here recieves, it's quite different.

Honestly, they're just thanks, I don't even notice mine until a thread like this pops up. I doubt anyone cares.

If there was a way to show the thanks under the 'exp' on the side it would be more valuable.

You know the thanks system is flawed when I've got over 7000 thanks.

Well that's bound to happen when you post 20 times a day.

Never thought I was a suck up, just generally agreed with what the mods said, but hey, at least I'm known for something

Great thanks there KevanGuy. You know, you are very insightful when it comes to giving out thanks. We should be able to thank thanks.

CP hit 4,000,000 posts recently and I don't even think anyone mentioned it. I was going to start a thread but I was drunk or asleep or something when the odometer rolled over.
