I did not realize that my contract in a few days is expiring and it is time for a new phone. I've had the iPhone 3 now and have loved it - although the battery is now pretty much useless. I've come down to two choices for a replacement - the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Note 2. I know the Note 2 is huge but I am so intrigued by the size being in between a cell phone and tablet.
Does anyone have and use the Note 2? How do you like it? Do the apps compared with Apple?
With such a large screen, how is the battery life? I did notice on the reviews that the phone does fit in most pockets, but it looks like there is a bulge wherever it goes. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

So I posted this last week:

That being said, there have definitely been days when it needs a top up when my iPhone probably wouldn't have.

And now to make me a liar my battery has started sucking balls. Anybody else having this issue out of nowhere? I haven't downloaded any apps. I used RDIO for 30 minutes when I worked out this morning and talked on the phone for about 30 minutes so far today. Read the news, etc. while eating breakfast so that's about 10 minutes of screen time there. Haven't texted anybody, used any other apps, taken any photos...nothing. I unplugged my phone at 6:30 this morning and I only have 45% of my battery left. I haven't downloaded any new apps in probably a month.
Is it just me?

Not just you. Without pretty strict battery management procedures, my battery is dead before I go home from work.

That's ridiculous. When you were saying your battery was bad I didn't realize just how bad it could be. I hope we can get this under control. The first few months I owned the phone everything was fine. Now it's terrible. It just drains sitting in my pocket doing nothing.

My battery has been pretty good. It's been a little crappier since I upgraded to 4.2, but nothing atrocious.

I have no idea if this makes that big of a difference or not, but had mine about a month now, and buddy at the store told me to let it go from 100% to completely dead about once a month to keep it strong. I just did it the other day and the battery already seems a little better than it did last week. Just sayin'..
With my S1 I was terrible for plugging it in at 45-50%, within a year it was junk, wouldn't last 3hrs. I try to never charge it unless its almost dead now, usually under 10%.

Somebody posted in a different thread that this isn't accurate. I'll try to find it.

Ya fair enough, that wouldn't surprise me, I'm by no means a techie person.
I know I keep hearing how overcharging / early charging is a thing of the past now, but I can't help but notice how quickly my S1 battery went to crap. Like I said, I'd usually plug it in at around 50%, and after a year, once my phone hit 50%, it dropped to 10% almost instantly. So at least in my mind, it clearly had some affect on it, despite what they tell you.
Then again I could just be hepped up on goofballs..

Disabling the Google Search app would gain a fair bit of battery life at the cost of Google Now.

I posted this in the android thread aswell. But does anyone know how to delete an app off the S3? I can only disable them and I want to delete some, most of the apps the phone comes with are pretty useless to me

You need to root and then un install with Titanium to get rid of preloaded or system apps.

You will have to root it and then use an app like Titainium Backup.

I'm having trouble getting pics/vids off my S3 onto my laptop. When I plug it in with the USB, it says I have no files in Pictures or Videos, which is a crock of poo. I'm also having trouble getting videos from my computer onto the S3, wanted to put an episode of something I had on there just to test it out, but I can't figure it out.
Any ideas what the problem could be, besides me being a noob with this kind of stuff? Thanks if you can help

the battery on these things absolutely blows, I get about 7 hours per charge right now, less if I actually use the thing. It has seen pretty heavy use the in the past but it's quite ridiculous, I need to keep it plugged in basically all the time and if I have a good night out I can't rely on it to have any battery left to run the alarm in the morning if I'm not at home to charge it. Little awkward to bring one of your chargers to the bar...
Having the same problems as the guy above me with transfering things to/from the phone as well. Computer doesn't always recognize it properly so I end up having to email stuff back and forth to myself, extremely annoying.
Still love the phone though despite the drawbacks.

Get a second battery. Takes 30 seconds to switch and costs only $40. I've barely had to use it but it's still nice to have.
