I would do Gaudreau for Niņo in a heartbeat.

No one wants our garbage for a top 5 pick.

I would go as far as Stempniak+Gaudreau+Butler for Nino

If you think that Reinhart in the package will get it done then you are seriously deluding yourself.

I think it would have to include TJ Brodie and a prospect like Reinhart or Wotherspoon. Not sure i would do it, but The Flames do need a big body up front that has some skill.

Gaudreau with 3 more inches would have made him a 1st round pick, straight up.

It's not like his skill wasn't noticed then. Many thought he was one of the most skilled in that draft, we were just the first team to pluck him up despite his size issue, which scared away most other teams.

I don't think the Isles are interested in Gaudreau.. at least not as the main piece. They want players that can help them right now.

It's Garth Snow.. Surely a deal involving Matt Stajan and Anton Babchuk or even Steve Begin would be enough. You just have to think outside the box and be as ridiculous as possible.

I'm pretty sure some of you are overvaluing a guy who hasn't done a single thing in the NHL yet. NYI made a bad call last year in keeping him up, Nino wasn't ready and they are now likely over-planning his success at the AHL level to compensate for the damage done to his confidence last year.

Like all kids who haven't proven a thing at the NHL level it's anyone guess as to his NHL success.

Suggesting two roster players and a prospect is insanity for a kid with possible character issues and an absolutely unproven track record.

If he was born a month later he would have been a first round pick in 2012 even at his current size

I'm thinking the same way. Put a garbage package together and Snow will say look at all these players, great lets do this!
Islanders i'm sure are looking for a 1st or at minimum a 2nd round pick and 2 bodies.
I would trade a 2nd if it was any of these players Butler, Babchuk, Stajan, Begin, Horak. They could offer Smith although i like his game.

Trade Snow back Comeau that would be a riot.
Bouwmeester and a 3rd.

Since they grabbed so many dmen, I'm sure 5 plug forwards will do the trick. A 5 for 1 deal!

is it unrealistic to think that something similar to the tom erixon trade would be a good start point? i realize nino was a higher pick, and a forward may have more trade value than a defenseman, but it is a comparable situation i think.

So of the noteable swiss players in the League right now, which one do you think is soft? Sven? Brunner? Streit?

Streit maybe but Brunner is off to a good start even if his team isn't.

Sven takes his hits, still manages to keep the puck.
