Default Census Dotmap

MIT student has plotted every census reporting person in the US and Canada on a map. Shows the density difference across the continent, or in your neighborhood.

Quite cool.

I found comparing the darkness of the NYC area, compared to Southern California somewhat interesting. I would have thought they'd be somewhat similar

A little disconcerting that there are dots on Queens Park Cemetary.

The block-level census data sometimes bleeds into adjacent open spaces

On the other hand, you could argue that the Queens Park Cemetary population is quite high, they just aren't of the Living Variety

The East vs West dichotomy is pretty striking. It's like there was a line drawn down the center of the continent.

Also interesting is the massive areas of un-inhabited places,
California, Wyoming, Nebraska etc...

From National Geographic...

Population 7 Billion—Could We All Fit in One City?

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder, the entire world's population could fit within the 500 square miles (1,300 square kilometers) of Los Angeles.
