So even if Fleury is overrated you are telling me Shero is going to go after Mr. Pressure himself Roberto 7oungo? Not freakin likely.

Even Vogoon is better than Luongo.

Okay, he may not be an elite goaltender but there are still too many negatives to taking Luongo over Fleury.
Pittsburgh may take Luongo in exchange for a steak dinner or a handful of complimentary in-flight massages, but to exchange an asset for the boat-anchor they call Luongo's contract doesnt seem likely.

Freidman's on Fan960 right now and he said Gillis' comments were completely calculated, like many on this thread are saying.

If the comments were calculated to increase interest in Luongo, they seem to have worked.

Yeah, he's just not that good. The Penguins finished near the bottom of the league with a .903 sv% last year and .900 in 09-10. If they were getting a .915 or so like they'd almost surely get with Luongo that represents a +35 shift in their goal differential. They would've easily won their conference last season and gotten Ottawa in the 1st round.
Pittsburgh has finished an average of 18th place in sv% over the last 4 years; what's the point of having 2 franchise centers if their extra output is almost completely mitigated by your poor goaltending?

If Luongo gets traded the Canucks are in trouble. Please trade him. Even though he's a choke artist he'll at least get them into a position where choking is possible. Schneider won't even get a chance to choke.

More like .920. He didn't even have a great season last year and still had a .919sv%.
PS - Marek made a similar pitch about the Capitals picking him up on MvsW today.

You've got to factor in the backup's numbers for team sv% though. I'm thinking Luongo would be .920 or so range with the backup in the .900-.910 range.

Tampa Bay perhaps? Just waiting on some one to waive their NTC?

I can only assume you're a Nuck fan if that is a dream for you because the Flames would:
1) be in serious cap pain with Vinny, and
2) with even less D than we have now, would be in serious risk of being a lottery team and then giving our lottery pick to the Nucks.
Ummm, no.

Are you serious?
There is no way in hell that any of the above pairs would be packages for Luongo.
They are not even close to reality.
O'Reilly and Varlamov is the closest and with more back the other way, then maybe. But the others?... Good Lord.
Dallas and Montreal - if asked - would be very quick to point out that their guy (Lehtonen and Price respectively) are better than Luongo, so why in hell would either throw in a star to trade down their goalie?
Edit: to anyone that would argue that Luo is better than either, that is subjective, and it is a certainty that the respective GMS don't agree with you.

Luongo would provide around a .08 Save Percentage boost to the Penguins in the regular season. I am not sure that improvement is worth the contract that would be coming to the Penguins in return.
Especially considering you would still have the same worries about your goalie come playoff time.

Some Jets fans were actually bouncing this around, which stunned me. Jets ownership would never take on such a ridiculous contract for one, and secondly the Jets management has clearly demonstrated a measured and patient approach to building this team. I hope Luongo has to sit on the Canucks bench for years to come and Gillis never finds a dance partner. Serves him right.

He wasn't suggesting those would be trade packages, he was saying that the three teams with RFA's are already probably set for goaltending and so it probably isn't them that's Gillis's "mystery team" even though the idea that said mystery team has to do something with one of their own players might tend to suggest it's one of the ones with RFA holdouts.
