Fixed your post and in some cases, I agree with you. Some people should not be allowed to own a dog... any type of dog, and their are definitely some people who should own a different type of dog than the one they have.
Some owners are just not capable of handling and training certain breeds... and they never will.

But then again, I guess the positive ones don't make the news though... do they?... which is why the negative ones are the only stories you usually see.

It's not that it's not a positive story, it's just... not a story.
This is a positive story about a dog, I just typed "Dog saves life" into google.

It has more to do with the other part of your post. Just because the thread has dog in the title it is not an opportunity to post about your mutt. I don't need or care to hear about what ever trophy or prize it has won.
You don't see people replying in the Connecticut shooting thread about their kids getting straight A's on their report card. There's a reason for that.

You set the bar pretty high.
And as to not being a story, I beg to differ... and so does Global News. They did a story on the event, this weekend.

Were there even pitbulls there? I thought they were mixed into 100 other breeds so thats why we can't ban them.

"Pit Bulls" are not a CKC recognized breed.
Quote:
Under the Animal Pedigree Act and from a genetic standpoint we distinguish between distinct breeds, evolving breeds and other randomly bred populations without distinct breed characteristics or genetic stability. The term “purebred” is reserved for an animal of a distinct breed that exhibits both a sufficient genetic makeup and breed characteristics to be labeled that breed. The dogs generically referred to by the media and general public, as “pit bulls” are nothing more than mixed breed dogs.
Mixed breed dogs have neither a predictable genetic background nor consistentdistinguishing characteristics and as such, are not eligible for registration with any breed association in Canada recognized by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
operating under the authority of the Animal Pedigree Act. Breeds often targeted and incorrectly included in the definition of “pit bulls” are the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Our records indicate that from January to
September this year 31 American Staffordshire Terriers were registered in the whole of Canada and only 104 Staffordshire Bull Terriers. We believe that a breed restriction will include individual dogs that are not dangerous and exclude dogs that cannot be defined that are potentially dangerous.

Yeah, I was just about to post this.
Crazy.
Quote:
At 1:30 p.m. a woman was walking her infant in a stroller accompanied by her pet schnauzer on a leash.
Also on a stroll on Canyon Meadows Drive at Bonaventure Drive was the owner of two bullmastiffs, who were also on leashes.
“They crossed paths and somewhere around that time, one of his mastiffs slipped out of the leash and went right for the schnauzer,” said Animal and Bylaw Services Manager Andrew Bissett.
When the mastiff owner tried to separate the animals, the second mastiff also got loose and joined the attack.

The thread is about dog attacks. So a positve story about dogs is off topic. Now, if you can find a positve dog attack incident, like "Dog attacks man, man turns out to be rapist", then you're good to go.

Just get rid of these pitbulls and their idiot owners!
Dog attacked twice by the same pitbull. and ridiculous you can't get the info of the owner of the attacking dogs.
The woman was able to get a hold of her two dogs, but she refused to provide her name or contact information, Reiter said.About two months later on March 9, Reiter’s wife, Simone Gerhards, was on a stroll with Abby in the same area when she saw the pit bull, this time with no collar or leash, running free in a nearby park.
“It came shooting at us and no one was around,” Gerhards said. “I started screaming and neighbours came out. I tried to defend her, but the dog bumped me over.”
The pit bull eventually ran off, but not before leaving Abby with gashes on her shoulder and backside, Gerhards said.
Two surgeries, $1,000 in vet bills and days of missed work later, the couple is fuming that the city never notified them that the pit bull was back in the community. They’re also angry that the owner of the dog was not required to give her name and contact information to them.
