3 different winners in the last 3 years

La Liga hasn't been competitive since Valencia won almost 10 years ago

anytime someone other than Bayern win the Bundesliga the team gets dismantled over 2-3 years for all their talent...

Pep goes to a league where he has infinite resources compared to everyone else

not really surprising after Tito has not missed a step without him, if anything they have been better, if he goes somewhere and isn't an instant success people might start to realize that almost anyone could win with Messi plus the greatest spanish midfielder ever (Xavi) and all the other talent

Dutch giants Ajax have been slapped with an £8,500 fine by UEFA for a banner unveiled by their supporters in the 3-1 Champions League win over Manchester City in October.
Quote:
The fans unveiled a cartoon banner at the Amsterdam ArenA showing a sheikh holding a bag of money with the words 'Against Modern Football' written underneath it.

Other slogan's unveiled on the night criticised Chelsea, Red Bull Lieipzig and Red Bull Salzburg, while another said '€80 [£67] for the away section is ridiculous'.
Uefa's official reason for the fine was for the 'display of a provocative and inappropriate banner'.

No prizes for guessing the provocative and inappropriate banner.

Thats fantastic! They should be given a trophy, not a fine!

Most leagues would have a disparity like that, but it would be

1-3
4-6
7-14
15-20
etc.

not 1-2

3-20

That's well and good if you want to make an argument to downplay his domestic achievements.

What about his 2 European titles in 4 years?

Getting real, he's not being hired by Bayern to win the league rather the trophy they haven't won in 10+ years despite being in a "2 team league". That's where he and all top managers are judged these days. And that's why there's a very real possibility that Mancini could retain the PL and still get canned.

I think his achievements are all tied to changes made in the youth set up a decade before he started coaching by Johan Cruyff

He's certainly not a bad coach, but no one knows yet if he is a great one and he is thought of like one

Real Madrid will be without their captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas for Sunday's La Liga match at home to Getafe after tests showed that he fractured a bone in his left hand in Wednesday's King's Cup game at Valencia. He is also likely to miss next month's Champions League meeting with Manchester United.

Huge (intended pun) break for United.

While I'm just a lowly mens div 2 keeper, I broke a couple fingers at the end of November, and just returned. 7 weeks

Saint Iker, is the #1 keeper in the world, but does he heal twice as fast with the best treatment in the world?

You are completely right about how Cruyff made significant changes in the way the youth system was developed in 1979. Guardiola is the perfect example of what can be achieved by that system considering that he himself developed as player under that system and has been a part of Barcelona's success both as player and Manager. His greatest contribution though has been as Manager, winning 14 titles in 4 years. Perhaps not worthy of making him a 'great manager' as you put it, but pretty impressive non the less.

I think achieving the kind of success that he experienced in Barcelona is impossible. But I think he will definitely make a positive impact on Bayern.

They're saying out of Madrid that he'll be out for approx. 2 months.

Don't know where else to post this but this is crazy if it's true. I still don't believe it at all.

As a Bayern fan I would like that.

As a fan of German soccer I hope he stays at Dortmund (though I doubt that is possibility anymore)

I dont see it happening. Why would he want to go to either of United or Bayern?

Right now Bayern cant decide between their various Marios, which is insane because last season Mario Gomez was one of the top 5 strikers in the world so Lewandowski would be behind him and arguably ahead of Mandzukic.

Same deal with United. Hes going to be behind van Persie and Rooney and maybe ahead of Hernandez.

Right now Dortmund are an attractive club. They're playing in the CL and doing really well and they're contending for the league.

Its wages.

He has to decide if he wants to ride the pine on a winning team for a lot of money or play a key part of being on a winning team for maybe a little bit less money.

I think he stays at Dortmund. The days of other clubs and leagues poaching German talent with high wages is very soon coming to an end I think.

I can't wait till tomorrow, should be a great game in Madrid. Good thing for United is that Real will miss Casillas and di Maria in both games, plus Pepe is just coming off an injury. Rafael vs Ronaldo is a key battle, hopefully he'll get some help from Valencia and Carrick. Hoping for a draw tomorrow, preferably with an away goal - that would set them up nicely for the game at Old Trafford.
