I absolutely love the car for being so ugly, in a functional utilitarian way. If I was going to be doing a cross country cannonball style race, this would be the ultimate car for it. Basically a sports car, with an integrated truck canopy. Ugly may be the wrong word... let's call it quirky.
As far as garaging nice cars in the winter.... in this city, it is smarter to buy a lumpy 1500-2000 beater for the winter. 1 Calgary winter will depreciate a luxury sports car $2-5000. If you are talking luxury SUV's, yeah, I would drive that in the winter. But your awesome Z3, no way that would see snow and gravel. It kills me looking at my 135i collecting dust right now, but knowing I won't have a $1000 paint chip repair and detailing bill in the spring, and possibly a windshield, makes it a lot easier to stomach each time I get in my old $1500 Subie.

It's funny, my roommate and I often took the Coupe to hockey, it can fit two adult sized hockey bags and our sticks...

I think they are much less common. This is the only one I have ever seen in the city, and I've seen 4-5 M versions over the years.

I always thought that Pacer was a very under-appreciated design. I think it's awesome......as is that Z3 coupe. Those have held up their value extremely well too.

After 2 months of hemming and hawing between lens options for my d800, I finally put on my big boy pants and made a decision.
Zeiss Distagon 25mm f/2.0. Going manual baby!
I've only taken about 10 frames, but it's already putting all my other lenses to shame.

How's the d800? I can't decide whether to get the d7000 or save for the d800 but a woman my size says it's kinda heavy for long hikes. That lens you got is awesome.

If you can afford it, go full frame, no question. If not the d800, the d600 is a little more accessible. The FX sensor makes a world of a difference (although it may render your older lenses useless, since it picks up a lot more detail).
The size of the d800 is totally reasonable compared to any other SLR. I had a D70 before this, and its negligibly different. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw it for the first time. What you need to do is make sure you have a good backpack for those hikes.

I like it but I think it looks more
like this Gremlin than the Pacer. I had one of these as a third car and it had quite a bit of power for a compact of it's day.

Thanks. At the moment I do mostly nature stuff. I have the d5100 cos I just started,but already feel a bit hampered by smaller amount of tracking points in the AF. I actually wish I had read more about it, as the d5100 book I have mentions the disadvantage. And yes I did ask a few things about the 600 at the Photographic Center in West Palm. We are so lucky to have that place here. Too bad the classes are so pricey. We've got classes with Vincent Versace and several NatGeo guys there. They also have a Leica boutique there. And they just opened a Hasselblad boutique in Boca. Now if I could just win the lottery!

Looks like Sears and Walmart sell them, at least according to their store locator. Possibly Bass Pro Sports as well?
