I was pulling for Bradley to get the HC job in Philly but Chip Kelley is a great choice. Been reading a lot about him lately and it seems he has a great football mind. really interested to see who gets the DC position, big big hire here.
Fun times in Philly!

I think Bellichick borrowed the idea from Chip Kelly about running a play immediately after a big gain by the offence. The Patriots seem to create goal line scoring plays quite often by running a play immediatly as the defence is still trying to figure out how they'll line up.
I don't know why more teams haven't picked up on this yet.

Huge congrats to Colts GM Ryan Grigson on being named NFL Executive of the Year and to Colts coach Bruce Arians for being named Coach of the Year/Assistant Coach of the Year! Marvelous job by both.

Some of these guys should take a lesson on how to brace for contact (and get down) like Wilson does.

Yeah, that's similar to what I've observed. Wilson despite his size concerns was able to survive a 18 game season without getting nicked as a rookie, which doesn't happen too often. He seems to know when to slide, and as you say is shifty enough to avoid gettin clobbered. I have not watched as many Niners games, but I haven't seen Kaepernick take a lot of hits either, certainly not like RG3.
I'm not sure if this read option style will hold up either, or if it will go the way of the Wild cat or run and shoot. With the types of athletes they have, I think certain elements will stick, but in time these guys will throw more and run less.

Newton really hasn't been banged up a lot either. That might have more to do with how big he is, but it's worth noting. The guys who seem to get hurt more (i.e. Vick and Griffin) seem to be of the smaller variety.

Rube makes the key distinction between an RGIII and a Cam Newton for instance. One is built like an NBA point guard, the other is built like a fullback. RGIII is so strikingly similar to Vick it's kinda scary, almost exact same body types. And when they play a reckless style that tries to do it all rather than to be smart, its only going to end badly. RW3 is great because he understands sometimes you have to live to fight another day. Its admirable that RGIII wants to do everything he can to help his team win, but its not very smart either. Sometimes a throw away is better than a 9 yard scramble followed by a linebacker or safety annihilating you.
As to running QBs in general, I do think defense will be able to adjust over time, but that guys like Kaepernick and Wilson are rare talents who will always be difficult to match up with.

Kaep will take a hit when he thinks is needs another yard or two. Otherwise he will step out of bounds or slide. He took one punishing hit last game but jumped right up (and spiked the ball for a 15 yard personal foul).

Yep. We've seen Cam steamroll people before. That's never going to happen with Griffin, so he needs to learn how to be safer. Even McNabb, who was a pretty big guy, still managed to get himself injured a lot because he was too reckless. I thought McNabb was more dynamic when he was younger, but he was better QB when he got older because he learned how to extend plays with his legs in order to make a pass, instead of just trying to pick up yards by scrambling.

Speaking of Belichick, does it not piss anyone else off how much of a scrub that guy is?
Seriously I've never seen a more homely looking person in a headcoaching position than that guy.

I'd put money on the fact that Vick restructures his contract and stays in Philly now.

Trying really hard to understand your concern for the best Coach in the NFL?
Would you rather have a well dressed, greased back, poor/average coach or just a guy that looks like "most" of the fans that support the NFL? Who gives a flying F what he looks like...Id bet every other team in the league would take him in a heartbeat...inc their fans...and let him dress in plastic bags if he wanted to.
How bout you post your picture so we can see how great you look?
Ther NFL coaches society = the best of GQ? LOL Andy Reid cmon down!
BB = the best

I actually love that Belichick dresses like he's borderline homeless. Just shows you he could care less about appearances, both on the field and off it.

I wouldn't. Chip has gone on record before about how much he likes Foles. He also puts a huge emphasis on reading defenses, not taking sacks, and not turning the ball over, things that are not Vick's strong suits.
I think Kelly will go with Foles and look at a mobile backup in free agency. Someone like Josh Johnson or Tavaris Jackson. If Foles falls flat on his face, then Kelly has a pretty deep QB class to choose from in the 2014 draft.

My bet is he goes with Foles and brings in Dennis Dixon. If that doesn't work out maybe he can get Marcus Mariota in the 2014 draft.

Imagine a scenario where Johnny Football does declare and the Eagles get the number one pick. That might be the only way Jadeveon doesn't go #1, and even then you still gotta take the superfreak.

They'd have to take Jadeveon. I don't think Johnny Football is a once in a generation athlete like him. That being said, I think the Eagles are a 8-10 win team next year if they get good QB play from Foles, and the secondary can be upgraded. If not, they're probably a 3 or 4 win team. Either way, I don't see them being quite bad enough to pick #1 overall.

Despite, how much I came to hate his play-calling, game management, etc., Andy Reid is a classy guy.
Reuben Frank @RoobCSN
Kelly said Andy Reid reached out to him, told him, "Just be yourself."
Jeff McLane @Jeff_McLane
Kelly: Thanks Andy Reid for helping him make the decision to come to the #Eagles. Reid texted him congratulations yesterday.

Eagles Insider @EaglesInsider
CK: I know Nick Foles from playing against him. I'm a huge fan of his. He's tough, people don't understand how important that is.
vs.
Jeff McLane @Jeff_McLane
Kelly on Michael Vick: There's nothing that's on the board, there's nothing that's off the board.
I'd say Vick's gone.

Gus Bradley to Jags and Arians to Cards means all the coaching vacancies are now filled. Also, Seattle have hired Dan Quinn as their new DC.
