CP is just as bad (and as pathetic) as every other Internet site out there where people find it acceptable to do this. The only thing missing from here now is for the mental midget wannabe cool kids to reference this (a la Springs1, Virgin auction, Wannamaker etc) in other threads. I am sure time will take care of this however....

Also, CP's dog loving crowd can be just as annoying as Sliver's dog hating....and not just in Sliver related dog threads.
"Oh, everyone doesn't love dogs as much as I do, and don't consider them equal to, if not more important than some humans. The horror!"
"I can't stand this negative dog talk, so this thread is now for posting pictures of your dogs!!"
"Rufus doesn't like all this bad dog talk"
insert picture of rufus, who doesn't give a crap about what people on the internet think of him, as long as his owner feeds him
Yes, Sliver is a little over the top of his hatred of dogs, but it's honestly not that uncommon for people to not enjoy dogs, and to get annoyed when they **** all over parks, and are only cleaned up after if someone else witnesses the dog crapping, and to hate the ones that bark incessantly, or try and tackle any one who comes in their house, while the family laughs and goes "haha, he likes you!!!"
Some people just don't like dogs, and quite frankly there's quite a few reasons why one could hate them. MMF hates cats, like lots of people, and lots of people hate dogs.

Honestly Sliver, the one thing I dislike about you is surprisingly not your blind hate on dogs, but how you dodge counter posts.
If anyone makes a post making really good points against you, you don't reply to it. However, the rare times that you do, you 'dodge' the points made against you and make a meaningless reply. For example, Your reply to Old Yeller's post previous page. Then you also thank any poster who agrees with you in the slightest, or posts a rant on dogs.
Then you try to play the victim here.. Here's a tip, whenever you post an opinion that is extreme, a lot of people are going to disagree with you. Ever think YOU'RE the one with the wrong line of thinking, instead of everyone else? I'm assuming no, since you seem to approve of anyone that agrees with your opinion, and think that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong.
If dogs were restaurant servers, you would be Springs1.

Lol that's ridiculous. I didn't get 100 posts talking to myself in this thread. Probably a good 95 of those are replying to other people. There is one post I didn't reply to (mmf) but that's because he has no interest in acknowledging anything I say as having any merit. Like seriously, how can you say I dodge discussion? You're way off base with that. Maybe I've missed one or two questions that have been asked before, but I have replied to hundreds of questions in this thread.
As for the 'thanks' thing... There are three or four guys that thank everything each other says in this thread (and it doesn't even bother me). Go back to the last few hundred posts to see. Of course I'm going to thank people that agree with me... Isn't that's what the 'thanks' feature is for? Sounds like you're just nitpicking at me if that's a beef of all things.
And playing the victim? No, I'm not. Don't fall for the colour mmf is trying to paint me with.

If the poster is mostly just continually spouting the same nonsense and being willfully ignorant and ignoring counterpoints, than yes, some people who are reading the thread who have differing viewpoints are going to point it out to him and it'll probably have a snowball effect.
It's an internet message board, I'm sure Sliver doesn't go running from the keyboard into his wife's arms because I'm calling most of his arguments stupid/ignorant/irrational. In the same way I'm not planning his real life demise... sure sometimes things may get a little heated but at other times I think it's more amusement on both ends. I'm also not going to follow him around the message board hounding him or PM him something nasty... because to be honest, I don't mind him as a poster on pretty much any other subject.

I think you're losing sight of the fact that this is an argument on the internet between people with nicknames/avatars as their representation. Calling an entire message board pathetic is well... different.

Is it possible this thread will die, if nobody responds to sliver?

For the record, right back at you. In my mind our disagreements in this thread live and die in this thread.

Yes, I'm all for that. Let's all agree to disagree. This can go back to just being a record of dog attacks.

I think it's possible. IMO it's a good thread gone awry. It seems whenever debates start to get somewhat personally vindictive, they tend to lose their purpose and objectivity.

Actually, I think what I said takes into account that it is an Inernet argument and I definitely did not call the entire message board pathetic. If you can't figure it out I am not really going to worry about it too much.

I would like to thank Old Yeller because after looking at his icon and doing a bit of google research I now finally know what breed my dog was. I mean, he was a mutt, but I never knew what went into him. Now I know! He was in large part Leonberger. Those dogs look exactly like him, including the size, and have the same exact disposition, with the exception that Duke's fur was mostly cream and black - I'm guessing he was also part lab or something.
That's pretty cool to know. Now I know if I ever want another dog (and ever have the space to take care of one) what I should get.

The difference is that I believe there is a almost no chance these types of dogs are going to lose their nut and tear out my (or my kids throat).
I've always been a dog owner, and my children are very comfortable and responsible around animals. However, I don't bring the kids over to my friends house who have the pit-bull. Its a very gentel and friendly dog, but I can't watch them every minute, so I won't risk it.
I understand my view is a little close-minded, but I've heard and read way too many story about pit-bull attacks.
I guess I consider this the difference..
There is a chance/risk of a bite from any dog, but there is a greater risk of a dog attack from a Pit-bull.

Unbelievable that these people kept the dog after it had attacked before, and its owner of all people.

Poor little guy. Hopefully this finally puts the breed ban on the table with city hall.
