Playoffs were included last year.
Hope it again works for us Europeans too ... 50 bucks is really cheap. It cost 159 last year IIRC.

The FAQ on the NHL site says that it is available worldwide (with the exception of Scandinavia, for some reason), so those of you in the UK, Austria, etc. shouldn't have any problems. And no pesky blackouts, either.
Edit: And it seems that any blackouts or geoblocks are done based on where you are viewing from, not your subscription or billing address.

last year, I actually had blackouts for a couple games for whatever reason ... wrote a mail and the situation was resolved within 5 minutes.
They have now replied to a mail of mine about Europe ... didn't answer my question if last year's subscribers will be automatically renewed though:
Registration for GameCenter Live in Europe and the Middle East is now available (except in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland where prohibited). The FAQs and Terms of Service will be updated shortly to reflect this change in territorial restrictions. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

How do you mean? Is it mostly bad if you are near the flames region?

Just signed up for this. Cancelled my cable TV package because I was sick of getting gouged and the only reason I had TV anymore was to watch the flames. Living in ontario this seemed the best option.
Question though: I travel to buffalo/chicago a lot. If I'm down in the states with my canadian GCL account, will I still be able to stream the game? An american friend of mine said that canadian and american accounts are different and have different rules. He was in vancouver for business last year and found he couldn't watch games at all with his account.
Thanks for any info from GCL vets!

You should be fine watching while you're in Buffalo/Chicago.
The best way I could explain your friends problems is that the games he was trying to catch in Vancouver were being shown on TSN or CBC.

They block out local games? So if I'm in Vancouver, I should be able to get all the Flames games, except against Vancouver? They will also do me the favor of blocking out the rest of the Canucks' games?

I don't know if this helps anyone but I have just been on the NHL Live Chat and the agent said that if your account is set to automatically renew then this will be done on the 21st. You won't miss out on the games on the 19th and 20th though however if there is a billing problem then they will obviously stop your access.

I'm having a hard time finding a reason NOT to do this. There is so much content legally available online now, the only reason I even have cable is because of hockey. If I were to cancel my basic and HD cable, which I rarely watch anyway, I'd save about $57/month. I already subscribe to unblock-us, so that's not a new cost. And even if Gamecenter was the "regular" price, I'd be paying about $20/month for it (based on past years). So during the season, I'm saving close to $40/month, and in the off season, close to $60.

I was in the exact same position, rarely if ever watch anything live on tv other than have it on for background noise, if it wasn't just hockey. With GCL, I don't see any reason NOT to cancel cable, other than that I won't get the playoffs I suppose. Even then, you can set up bunny ears or just plug your cable in to a TV tuner on a computer and still get CBC.

I believe that CBC streams all of their games online anyway (for those within Canada). TSN is the only tricky one, but with unblock-us, all of the nationally televised games should be available - in theory.
Has anyone in Canada used Gamecenter and unblock-us before? Does it get you around the CBC and TSN national blackouts for sure? Even for playoffs?

to those who did not know what to do.....
You can maybe wait until automatic renewal, or you can pay right now. I did. After chat with GCL agent, he told me, i can pay right now without waiting for renewal, that REGISTER NOW formula in the end is like REGISTER NOW the payment, not the existing account. I have already received email now from GCL confirming the payment. Let the NHL 2013 season begin! :-)

Ugh, I guess they haven't added the Gamecentre Live app to Xbox 360 in Canada yet?
I've looked under the apps section on Xbox Live, and there's nothing there. Does anyone in Canada get the GCL app?

There should be no blackouts period. I don't buy cable, I don't want cable, I just want to watch Flames games. I could give a fig of whether it was on TV or not.
So sell me a service that I actually want, without having to buy another $70 worth of crap I don't want to get what I'm looking for or, I'll pay someone else to provide it.
