Bets and Wagers for the 2013 NHL Season
Have a bet with a friend? Gonna make a wager on a gambling website? What sort of action to you have on this upcoming season?
Myself, call me a homer, but I feel the Flames chances for making the playoffs in a shortened season are about 50/50. On Bodog, they have the odds for our Flames making the playoffs at 4/1, parlay that with the over on 50.5 points on the season and my $100 wager has a pay out of $835... seems like pretty good value on a 50/50 bet.

I've got $100 on the Flames to win the cup ($5000 payout) Easy money. Also have $50 on the Flames to make the playoffs ($200 payout) and $50 on them to collect more than 50.5 points ($43 payout I think)

I presume you mean "easy money" for Las Vegas or your bookie.
Though I do like the playoff bet.

Well scratch that plan. I just logged into bodog to confirm my bet, and once I was logged in, it would no longer let me parlay the 2 wagers. Any reason why that would be?

I also put $50 on a player outside of the field (which includes Kipper) to win the Vezina. The payout is $1,650.

4/1 odds for them making the playoffs is a no brainer IMO - those are great odds.
and the over-under is 50.5 pts?? that projects to 86 pts on a full season... wow.

who is "in the field"? im guessing its their top 5 goalies or something?
that is a crazy payout on a trophy that is very random from year to year - especially in a shortened season!

I am not surprised at all that there is no love for the Flames out there. What DOES surprise me though, is that most of the 'experts' expect that they will be substantially WORSE than last year.
With all the injuries they had, with an anemic PP, with a horrendous SO record, with a coach that they clearly were no longer listening to - then you look at the overall changes to the team... I just do not see how you can come to the conclusion that they are going to be significantly worse this year.

Obviously there are some favourites in there, but it looks like a few one-hit wonders, has-beens, and never-beens on there too.
I agree. If there is one award that is wild card in a short season, it's this one.

Like most people here, +425 to make the playoffs. Posted before but this is a better thread for it.
Love that bet.

I just put another $50 on the Vezina "other" bet ($1650 payout). Lindbäck wasn't on their list either.
Could win $6893.48 if the Flames do well on $250 placed bets lol
Oh and I use bodog ftw

Because the 2 bets are related. In all likelihood if the flames make the playoffs they get over that point total too, so essentially you are doubling up the odds on the same "event".

I figured it was too good to be true, as the second bet on the parlay was essentially risk free. Just lame that they let you preview a bet before you log in, then I deposit my cash to make the bet, and then they pull the rug out from under it.
Oh well... just put $100 on the Flames to make the playoffs.
