Sutter worked at Safeway? No wonder the fruit were all backed up.

Flames will offer a lame 10% off merch or something very very minor.
50% off Bourque Jersey.

After the last lockout the NHL handed out little Stanley Cups to all the fans in attendance after the first home game. I have mine sitting on my desk to this day.

The Flames are quite community-oriented. I would not be surprised to see more "player events" with the public and also a significant series of donations from the club in the line of what the Kings did.

Gimmicks will work for the casual fan - the STH likely won't care too much about merch discounts; we'd be happier with ticket discounts, though that's not happening.

+1.

I will sacrifice 3 months of hockey for a 10 year CBA, that keeps the Flames on a level playing field, every time.

I'm recharged, considerably less jaded on the team, and ready to get back into it.

Thats fine but there are thousands of people in the community who have lost out big time due to the missed games of the season. Workers affiliated with the Flames, 'dome workers, pubs and restaruants and their workers and I am sure this list extends well beyond the obvious losses as well. The money lost goes well beyond the players wages.

What I suggested is not trying to pay these people back with dollars or discounts but with goodwill towards the community. The owners and players must know that the lockout hurt far more people than themselves and this would be a grand gesture.

I really don't want anything as a fan - I will continue to be one through thick and thin. The only thing that has changed for me is that the players are now irrelevant to me - only the team matters. Something like this may shift it back.

First of all the NHLPA did not strike, the owners locked them out, and are responsible for the lack of NHL hockey.

Second, you still were able to buy groceries from a simiar store (Coop etc)

And thirdly, if Safeway did lock out their staff, closed their doors and were coming back, you can bet they would be offering up their customers a whole lot of incentives to come back in the store.

The fact that we're here discussing "what are they gonna give us? We're entitled to free stuff too" is kind of exactly why the Flames don't need to do anything for the fans.

Those other markets actually need to create extra incentive to bring fans back to the games. The Flames don't need to do anything despite our entitlement issues

We get to watch an already mediocre club regress year after year, what possibly more is needed?

The NHL should absolutely be giving out a free/discounted NHL Centre Ice package. Not as a way to appease fans, but a way to attract new fans.

The Flames/NHL doesn't need to do anything, fans will come back, but if they want to get some of the fringe fans back, they are definitely going to have to do something. Taking your customers for granted is a sure fire way to fail.

I say they stop ticket increases for the next 2 seasons (after this one) and then I'll be happy.

I don't want to have to keep subsidizing Phoenix, Florida teams, and Columbus.

I want free dome beer, nachos and pocket dawgs for the full season. I believe that is a reasonable request.

I would love to see the Flames compensate all the employees who have been struggling to make ends meet during this lockout. The people who can afford the tickets don't need a discount and we were really just inconvenienced. We are fans of hockey and will be disgruntled but I agree that a cheap gimmick won't win us over. However, a presentation or celebration day for the staff that rely on the flames income to feed their kids, that I would get behind.

I also really like the work they have been doing sending players out to skate with kids. More of these events to put smiles back on the faces of kids and to reignite their faith in their heroes. That would repair it all for me.

I'm not too sure what point you are trying to make. Who cares where the money normally comes from. I'm saying that the 17 home games missed would normally raise X amount of money, the Flames should write a cheque for that amount to whatever charities missed out.

The average payout is probably in the $25-30k range so donate $450-500k (half of what the Kings gave away so I'm sure the Flames could afford it) and I believe it would go a long way! Not only to the charities that would receive the money but also in the public relations department.

Then it would be nice to see Iginla and crew maybe put out some money of their own, even if they gave half of their 1 game pay they would be almost matching the Flames donation 1:1.
