So some 16 year old kid not only got an acquaintance to help him abduct this girl, but thought a ski mask would disguise him enough that no one would suspect it was him? Either this kid is dumber than spit, and has an equally dumb buddy, or something is off about this story.

maybe the daughter left on her own and the parents concocted the home invasion story as an excuse to issue the Amber Alert

Yes, that was my thought. It sounds too much like something someone would concoct after watching too many bad TV cop shows, although to be sure it could be the alleged perpetrator who is clueless enough to go that route, and not necessarily the parents trying to misdirect the media to get more publicity with which to retrieve their daughter.

If the guy was in his 20s, and maybe from an urban background, it might be more believable, but 2 teenagers from Podunk, Nowhere? Everybody would know who the 2nd guy is after a cursory investigation of who is or isn't to be found around town today, and your main suspect is obvious as well, so why ski masks? It just doesn't make any sense.

It's good that they can release the 16yr old's name and picture. I'm gping to assume that in an abduction case it doesn't matter that he is a minor?

I think a big problem in this world is that impregnating someone is so easy even an idiot could do it. In fact an idiot is more likely to do so.

Sad story, i have family in the area and i am sure they are pretty upset about this now.

Update

Quote:
Maple Creek, Sask. -- The mother of a teenage boy who Saskatchewan RCMP allege abducted his pregnant girlfriend says it’s all a misunderstanding.
Caralee Hansen says her son, 16-year-old Jonathan Hansen, and 14-year-old Katelyn Mosquito are safe and are planning to go to police and explain what happened.
But an Amber Alert for Katelyn remained in effect and Mounties said they wouldn’t comment on the development.

Another sister, Amy Mosquito, 16, was also in the home at the time. She was the subject of a missing person search in 2010. At the time, RCMP said the girl was found safe in a home in the Maple Creek area.
What a brilliant waste of police resources.

Mom of the teenage boy is now saying the whole thing was a misunderstanding and that the girl is fine.

Gawd... My money is now on the boys' mother (Caralee Hansen) insisting they get married.
