DO NOT fly with Allegiant, too many vacations ruined by these guys. Planes are always delayed. Aunt and Uncle were delayed in Great Falls for 22 hrs, on a three day Vegas trip. We flew witrh them to San Fran and were delayed 1.5 hr down and 2.5 on the way back. Then Pilot couldn't land the plane in Kalipell due to "air traffic". There are like four flight oout of Kalispell a day, he just effed up and took another 45 mins to land. Just check out there Facebook page, they suck.

The driving distance from Calgary, Canada to Las Vegas, Nevada is:
1,312 miles / 2 111 km
15 hours, Average speed = 140.7 km/h.
17 hours is 124.2 km/h.
That's with no stops. Are you accounting for the time change?
|
It is nearly impossible to avg 124km/ph. Especially with the border crossing and SLC. From the border go with this. 10hrs to SLC, 1-2 hrs through SLC if your lucky (go through at 3am it's quite then)and 5 hrs from SLC to get where you are going. That would include stopping for gas only and driving 80mph +/-, which is the speed limit in southern UT.

I didn't count the border in my time as I got searched for an hour.
120 km/h is slow. I'm sure even with my gas stops my average speed was above that.

So I'm going to Vegas with three chicks for SB weekend. There's a UFC PPV that weekend as well. I know they won't want to go to the live event but I'd like to check out the weigh ins. Anyone know if these are fun events? I'm assuming they're free? Is it like a "fan fest" type of thing or just the weigh in and that's it? Will I be able to go to the press conference too?

Weigh-ins usually require a media pass or a ticket. I don't know of many that are free.
Edit: seems like most Vegas ones are free now. Atleast UFC 155 was with a quick google.

Unfortunately, real life is not like porn. I doubt these three girls are going to be letting him watch them have pillow fights in their underwear. They're most likely going to want to shop, see awful shows, and get hit on by douchy guys. Hopefully they are cool enough to actually be into football and watch the game. I'd take any opportunity I could to do something sports related.

Weigh-ins are a lot of waiting and not much weighing. I'd skip it unless you're dead-set on going.

You guys drive like Grandmas. The speed limit hovers around 75-80 the whole trip so that implies driving the limit the whole way. If you can drive through Idaho and go the speed limit you have awesome self control.
I can't help but open it up on an empty, straight road where you can see any traffic for miles.

I've done the drive a few times, and it's usually 18 hours if you do 5 mph over the limit, and this really depends on your timing going through SLC. It can be a 2-3 hour jaunt through there if you hit rush hour and construction delays.

ah the folly of youth, it's the journey as much as the destination.......

Are the pools open in Vegas right now? If not, when do they re-open?

No, too cold right now. Usually open middle or end of April.

I've seen some pools open up in February/March...though it hardly is enjoyable. Even last week, Las Vegas had a high of 5 degrees during one of the days.

Yeah, it may happen, but most of the good pools aren't open until April. I've seen some that even wait until May.
