LMAO at Burke has there ever been a more pompous windbag as a GM ever. This is a great way to start off 2013. I will not miss his self glossing rants 1%. Please do not hire this tool anyone. TSN do not hire Burke as an analyst either you know you want to.

Dreger - spoke with Nonis. Goaltending is a significant issue right now. Couldn't say Luongo. Not going to let the vultures circle.

Per Mark Spector: Brian Burke was unwilling to make the Luongo trade. His inner circle wanted it. Nonis will try to make it happen. #Leafs

He may be a windbag GM but there isn't a single GM who does more in the community than Brian Burke.
The hate for him is puzzling since all reports are that he's a great guy and did a tonne of charity work in Toronto.

I guess Burke did have a hill that he would die on (that being the Luongo trade), and it would appear he did actually die on that hill. At least someone was willing to stick to his word.

Bob McCown saying that the asking price for Luongo is Kadri and Gardiner.
Pretty steep price to pay.

The hate for him here is puzzling considering he hates Kevin Lowe much more than many of us here.

I side with Burke if this is in fact true.

The first three full pages of videos on tsn.ca are dedicated to Burke and the Leafs. That's more than when the lockout ended. That's hilarious, and expected. Toronto Sports Network.

If the cost for Luongo ends up being Kadri + Gardiner, Burke will come out of this firing looking better for it, while the Toronto board will come out looking much worse.

I don't even see it being accepted as Gardiner straight up. Dude has to be untouchable at this point, you'd think.

So does Nonis end up doing a small favor for his old pals or stick to making the better deal for his new bosses. Guess we will see how this plays out. Nonis will be heavily judged how he negotiates this deal. Give little back for Bongo Leafs your the one taking on pillowy soft and his massive contract. That other team is the one that can't wait to rid of that contract.

It's a bit of a different situation for Calgary, since our team only has a single goaltender capable of being a starter right now, but, personally, yes, I would in a heartbeat.

Kadri has huge character issues off the ice. Would not want him as I think he's a glorified Toronto prospect.
Gardiner on the other hand, is a great young defenceman. There is no way the Leafs are parting with him, with or without Burke.

No way. That would be absolutely foolish unless Kipper does not want to resign and if the Flames were aware of that.
I don't care much for Kadri anyways They would have to sub in another prospect instead.

Vancouver is likely looking to move out Ballard and Booth as well, could be a larger deal if Gardiner is involved.

They are not looking to move out Booth. I don't even understand why anyone would think that, there is no chance in hell Booth goes anywhere. Ballard will likely be bought out or traded for a pittance, but I suppose you might be right that the Leafs take the position that he just needs a new environment and will again be a top 4 D. That's a risk though.

Holy garbage batman. That would be like one of our dream trades where we packaged Stajan, Bouwmeester and Bork in a deal.
