Haha ya that was funny, he didn't look impressed. At least the player knew not to pour it over his head like in previous years, so we couldn't see how badly balding Saban actually is. That would've been instant 1AA bound. I actually like Saban by the way, one of the all-time greats, but I get what his haters are talking about. Imagine that guy as a father in law? Nightmare
That game was a disaster. Pretty tough to be in a hole that early for the Irish after a couple terrible calls, but it would've just been delaying the inevitable. Bama completely outclassed them in every aspect. The O getting shut down by that D was expected, but the Irish D getting embarassed was a surprise. That same D held Landry Jones to 13pts in Norman, wtf?? Tide in dynasty mode.
At least that game was fitting for the rest of the weekend, ever since thte Michigan/SC thriller, its just been nothing but blowouts in NFL playoffs/NCAA bowl games. At least the AFC side will probably be the same next week too..

It does? I can't recall that ever being the case with anyone who was anything more than a casual fan, and that's not the type of fan we're talking about here. This is the equivalent of Flames fans celebrating a Canucks or Oilers cup win. I'm an MSU alum, and although ND isn't in the Big Ten they are frequently on our schedule so their success bumps our SOS for next year and makes our loss this year look a bit better.
My response to that was to take an immense amount of joy in the camera shots of ND fans crying in their hands. I want to see them crushed at every possible chance.
That's how you think about you rivals. Unless you're an SEC fan of course.

It does, not so much with direct rivals, but a lot of fans prefer when it's their conference winning the Cup.

I have never heard of anyone cheering for a team because they are from the East or West.
And the fact is what we're talking about here is rivals, this isn't Bruins fans cheering for the Panthers, it's Flames fans cheering for the Nucks or Oilers. Bama, LSU, Florida and Georgia are rivals. The games between them are heated and have been for some time, and for good reason. I could see Vandy fans celebrating a Bama win, they don't have much of a rivalry with anyone outside of UT, and the same goes for A&M (for now). In the Big Ten I would never cheer for UM or OSU and increasingly Wisco is reaching that level due to the nature of the games between the programs.
At the end of the day there's really only one set of fans that seem to adopt this mentality, and it's SEC fans. I don't have the pleasure of associating with SEC fans very often, so it doesn't really bother me, but it sure is weird.

I hate ND, I hate their entitled attitudes towards everyone, I laugh that they've been ghosts for the last 25 years and when they finally make it to the big game they get absolutely pasted on national tv.
When I was in Indy before xmas I had so many ND fans coming up to us while we were eating and talking smack.
I'm not a team sec guy, but after the catholic vs cousins and Golden domers vs mobile homers shirts I was hoping that they were routed.
It's almost as if the catholic roles were reversed and they were being molested with out being able to do anything about it.

^^ That makes complete sense to me, sometimes you just have to pick who you want to lose more.

Catholics versus Cousins was hilarious, if not nearly as classic as Catholics versus Convicts. So is Golden Domers vs. Mobile Homers. Gotta lighten up a little bit. Notre Dame fans and SEC fans deserve each other as easily the two most annoying fan bases in the NCAA.

No doubt. That was easily one of the worst tackling performances I've ever seen. Notre Dame had more missed tackles in the first half last night than they did all season.
The SEC versus Textbooks would be fun.

Alabama has a graduation rate for it's football players of 75% which is above the average. Perhaps to challenge them, they can calculate the angles on the facets of all those crystal footballs.

See when you SEC fans get chippy or defensive anytime anyone makes fun of your league, all you are doing is encouraging us to mock your league because we know we can get a rise out of you. Vanderbilt of course is only in the SEC to bump the conference GPA.

I can't even begin to explain how ridiculous this post makes you look. You pretty much had a meltdown over the SEC, everyone is laughing at you, no one really takes your opinion seriously, and now you're doing it to get a rise out of people?
I'm an Alabama fan, not an SEC fan, and Alabama would have a harder time stomping through a 18 inch snow drift than they did stomping through Notre Dame last night. And since this a football thread on a sports forum, that's all that matters.

It actually doesn't make him look ridiculous at all, you guys get unbelievably bent out of shape over even the slightest negative comment directed towards the SEC. I've seen it happen here, and this forum barely has a pulse when it comes to college football.

Where are people getting bent out of shape? Senator brought up the SEC, Senator is the one that was having a fit, and now you're back talking about how riled up people are again. Go read my posts again.

A meltdown over the SEC? Why? Because Arkansas fans feels like they won something last night? I mean you do realize thats maybe the most pathetic thing in sports? Seriously, did you cheer for the Canucks in 2011? Same conference, same division, same country...more reasons than most SEC fans have to cheer for a conference over their team.
And then you try to showcase other examples of fan groups choosing to cheer for rivals, when in reality there is nothing to that at all. Seriously, the SEC and their fans are a unique entity. When Texas A&M beat Bama, I saw so many SEC fans raging at A&M for ruining the conference's chances of winning again. I mean that's so pathetic I don't even know where to start. Yes, feel the shame A&M, you did well for yourself but at the time appeared the cost the SEC dearly. Last night no doubt there were tons of Georgia fans cheering for Alabama. Think about that: You would gladly cheer for the team that ended your season, your chance of winning it all. Just a guess, but Redskins fans didn't just become Seahawks fans.

I'm not talking about you, and I'm not talking about anything currently happening on this board (edit: actually, apparently now I am seeing as you're getting bent out of shape by a legit argument). Although, you do seem to be pissed off for some reason.
Ha, and you're post above proves it. Completely legit critique of the whole phenomenon of SEC fans cheering for Bama despite them being a rival and you act like it's someone throwing a fit. Way to prove a point.

That one I can almost understand simply because the presence of an SEC team in the title game means $$$$$ in the pockets of every school in the conference.
