I just looked at my neighbours and around me on the public site out of curiosity. One neighbour (directly beside me) has a home value that is about 14% higher than mine or the other neighbour beside me. I have no idea why as our homes are fairly similar as far as I can tell!

I don't think that there is anyway to see how things changed by neighbourhood, but in years past I think that the Herald has done an article or something on this?

How do you guys see your assessed value versus actual market value?

Which is higher?

Last year on the assessment website you could see the history of what properties sold for. Is that gone?

Yeah Wormius, it's not on there now. I was checking the map this morning and didn't see it there.

Mine went down $6K this year. I really don't understand how these things work; one year my place was next to the burnt down condo building (the big fire in Millrise) and the property value went up like $20K that year. Pretty sure people don't want to buy next to a burnt out building and future construction site for the next few years, yet my value went up?

I also got the harsh slap of reality with a new inner city build and a similar increase. Up until now we were condo dwellers so this new tax bill stings a bit.

Yep. I'd love it if the city made Calgary Transit freaking work for the inner city given my neighbours and I took a property valued at $350,000 and turned it into two properties totalling more than $1.3M in assessed value.
