Flames get robbed in a Bouwmeester for Filppula deal, straight up.

Isn't it their four most important players though?

I will take the Flyers to win the Cup over St. Louis, Crosby to win the scoring. I think the Flames will be a scoring machine but give up too many goals with that D. If we get rid of Bouw I see us in the playoffs, if he stays it will be the same ol..same ol.

My apologies. Dubnyk and Horcoff will put them over the top in the NHL.

And my point was that, despite them destroying their competition, they are still awful.

Now, they move up to tougher competition in the NHL, and the relative quality of their teammates (compared to the rest of the league) drops.

I would be surprised if Edmonton wasn't competing for last overall again.

I think some people are missing the point. When the season starts it not going to the OKC teams skating up, it will be the Oilers featuring the key players from OKC who are having success. I think the Oilers will finish ahead of us this year if Dubynk plays at a reasonable level.

Yeah I would put money on Edmonton being closer to last than first.

They still have quite a ways to go before they will become truly competitive.

Really what have they done since last year when they finished 29th? Signed Schultz and drafted Yapukov. Sorry even with the progression of the other 3 players it's just not enough to put them into contention.

I guess this'll be the year Iggy doesn't pot 30? Does it still count?

What do you guys figure for Kipper? Plus or minus 46 games played?

It takes more then 4 guys to make a team great, granted OKC is only 5 points out of the conference lead.....

And 8 points out of 14th place, two can play that game!

Oh and they finished in first in the conference last year, so actually they are playing worse this season than last.

I think with a shortened schedule, we will see some surprises in who makes the playoffs. In a normal season its usually <75% into the season in when you start to see teams settle in to where they belong in the standings, give or a take a few teams in the West. I wouldnt' be surprised at all to see TOR, CGY or EDM make it in, and a few of the elite teams fall short.

Edmonton is spending far too much time focusing on their offence when they already have it good up there. They need a new goalie, Dubnyk isn't going to do it. They should probably trade someone like Yakupov or Gagne for a top 4 D with a good hit and/or a goalie.

But thats just me.

Kipper starts 64 games.

Iggy gets 50 in 38, finishes with 69 in 50.

It's unfortunate that, short of a career year, Iggy's streak of 30 goals+ will end.

Hard to make predictions when we don't even know the schedule or games to be played.

Calgary Flame season ticket holders might be in for a treat. The Northwest is going to be a fun division to watch--perhaps better than the Atlantic. Vancouver remains a good team. Edmonton has a ton of fire power. Colorado is a bit of an unknown, but they are young and have got some skill. Minnesota is obviously a lot better. And the Flames are no doubt going to be projected to be the worst team in the division.

You and I have very different ideas about what a treat is.
