Classification of "others"
I was reading the Sun today, and they had a 2 page spread on aboriginals peoples.
There was 4 classifications:
- Native
- Inuit
- Metis
- Other
Does anyone know what the Other classification would be? What type of peoples would this include?

Could be for people to specify their specific tribe. Cree, Tsu Tsina, etc...

Don't think so. Those would be covered under the "native" catch all.

Well, and I have no idea this is just a guess, maybe certain Nations get certain benefits. There are so many different ones. Having a title like "Native" is like have a section for "Brown"

According to Statistics Canada this figure "Includes those who identified themselves as Registered Indians and/or band members without identifying themselves as North American Indian, Métis or Inuit in the Aboriginal identity question."

I went to school with someone whose mom was Filipino and dad was Aboriginal - can't remember if he was status or not - but I think she may have fit into the "other" category.

Well than you're going into the worlds indigenous peoples so my Welsh ancestors would be also included.

Its probably just an option they put there in case they may have missed somebody. Didn't want someone writing into them complaining that they were not included.
