Great thread! As an artist we approach cover songs with a open mind and rarely go for the note for note approach and the album we released in May this year - Original Copy - is that personified.

Here is a list of all the videos and mp3's of cover songs that we have done, including a new one just released last night of Hey Joe (Originally by Tim Rose but famously covered by Jimi Hendrix )

Six Blade Knife (Dire Straits)
All Your Lovin' (Various Artists)
BodySnatchers (Radiohead)
Six Blade Knife Live (Dire Straits)
Hey Joe (Tim Rose/Jimi Hendrix)

Heavy Jack there are some good covers there! I liked Heartbreaker, All along the watchtower (acoustic) and Voodoo Child the best.

Right on Slava!! Glad you dug that!

All the acoustic songs were super fun because it was right around Olympics in Vancouver - Feb 12th I think.

A lot of stuff I would have posted has already been so, so I'll throw these out there:

Eric Clapton's cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRgcwT9X2J8

Also, some of the stuff posted by Jennifer Warnes as covers of Leonard Cohen's work are actually the other way 'round: Cohen wrote them but Warnes recorded them first. Examples include "Ain't No Cure For Love" and "First We Take Manhattan".

I was trying to figure out where you were playing. I don't know which one you are of the three, but I only wish I could play guitar that well!

This takes a terrible 50 Cent collaboration from a boring throwaway trainwreck to a compelling, emotional song.

There's been a lot of slow acoustic covers of this song.
Oh and the original can't be that bad if the chords, lyrics and the original melody can be left unchanged and still be made into a "compelling, emotional song" just by playing it on an acoustic guitar or piano. People love to dismiss songs that don't fall into their genre of choice.

I love hip hop. That 50 Cent song is hot garbage though. People love to dismiss songs that are hot garbage.

Fifty's rapping in that song is terrible but Timbo's beat and JT's chorus are pretty good imo.

I'm a big fan of Hugo's Jay-Z cover. It was recorded as a thank-you for being signed to Jay-Z's record label apparently.

Didn't mind that at all! Reminded me of a cross between something you could find on Zepp III and the White Stripes in terms of sound. Cool post kunkstyle!
