Now multiple reports, including from @danpompei and @RapSheet, that Bears have fired Lovie Smith.

Buffalo and KC both should have fired their GM's too today. But I can't shake my head enough over Pioli still having a job with the Chiefs right now, what is wrong with Clark Hunt?

Those two have made as many bad personel and drafting decisions as any teams in the NFL and somehow the two dopes making those decisions keep their jobs?

I can kind of understand Buffalo since Wilson has lost it and the idiot they have running the team now wants to keep patsies around but KC used to have some football sense and you would think after all the missteps that firing Piolo would be ab easy decision.

A smart team would now hire Lovie Smith as their new coach.

Defensive coordinator, yes, but not head coach.

It could happen, but I think Lurie and Roseman will do their due dilligence. Apparently they've already lined up an interview with Dirk Koetter.

I can understand teams wanting to hire the coach than pick the GM if that's how they want to structure the front office in terms of who will have final say.

But Pioli insists on control, so he's the guy who will hire the next coach, or he has to go. They won't be hiring a coach, and keep Pioli in a lesser role. He's had 4 years, and the team is going backwards after they got to the playoffs on the back of players that Carl Peterson drafted in 2008, since that, it's been trending down fast. He chose to backup Cassel with Brady Quinn, and he chose Crennel as his coach. You shouldn't get a third chance to fix mistakes like that.
Peterson drafted.

Interesting quote from Jeff Lurie today (Eagles owner) per Twitter:

Quote:
I think if you had to point to something that went wrong, it's making moves inconsistent w/ philosophy thinking it would bring title.
IMO, he's right. The last few years the Eagles have been trying to build teams the Dan Snyder way and have yielded predictable results. I think Asomugha and DRC are probably both gone in the offseason, along with Vick.

I've lost count with the moves today...

Buffalo HC
Jets GM
Cleveland HC & GM
Jacksonville GM
San Diego HC & GM
Kansas City HC

Philly HC
Chicago HC
Carolina GM at midseason HC? I don't see anything saying Rivera out officially
Arizona GM & HC

So that's 10 of the 20 teams missing the playoffs making some sort of change by the first day after the season. I think a couple GM's and HC's there may be out soon enough too.
