I agree, get it done AA, it's only one draft pick and some Rogers cash.

Bowden says they are the AL East favourites already.
I like it although I imagine Soriano would want multiple years. Can someone remind me how he left NYY? He opted out of another year worth $14M, correct? Was it because he wanted to close (but I thought he opted out well before Rivera dined for another year) or he thinks he can get more money or more years this year?

Boras thinks closers are still important, the rest of the league has realized they are not

Craving baseball - What a great year to have the WBC in march... Will be decent baseball to watch in just 2 months and just 7 weeks until first players hit training camp. Am starting to wonder if I'll even bother watching the NHL if a last minute lockout deal happens.

Ed Sprague!
Clutch.

Holy cow, Tim McCarver was just as brutal to listen to in 1992 as he is in 2012

Derek Bell working that 8-pitch walk is an often forgotten, but huge at-bat in Jays history.

...and McCarver sucks.

Back in 1992 Americans who casually watched the World Series must have thought Game 3 was on the other side of the world!

Wow, the replay of the '92 WS sure brought back some great memories. Tom Henke (the terminator), Jimmy Key, Alomar, slim David Wells, Devo, Johnny O and of course Carter...

Bad calls were still the same 'bad calls' that are made today...the non-call on a triple play by Gruber...ouch

The Braves' tomahawk chop mocked by Alomar and Gruber pissed off Braves fans.

The Braves rotation of Smoltz, Glavine & Avery were no-pushovers.

'Neon' Deion Sanders...perhaps the last multi-sport player in North America who was arguably a star in both NFL and MLB and played in both respective sporting championships.

It was nice to see the SkyDome filled to capacity and a raucous crowd showed up. That was certainly special. Americans got a taste of Canadian hospitality. A foreign country winning the WS was something else but with a black manager at the helm was icing on the cake.

Clearly the most nerve wracking baseball game I've watched. A loss means Game 7 in Atlanta.

McCarver was a chore to listen to, Sean McDonough was ok...his call in 1993 was actually pretty good, "and still World Champion, Toronto Blue Jays", sounded like a boxing title fight call.

Good start by Maldonado with the HR...but you couldn't think that could hold up all game.

IIRC, the Blue Jays relievers before Ward and Henke were wild cards (Stottlemyre and Wells in this game), so when they got to Ward, and then Henke, you figured it was in the bag. Then Henke blew it in the 9th.

Cue Dave Winfield's (Winfield wants noise!) heroics (upcoming) in the 11th, his only post season career double, at the age of 41.

Also vividly remember the Coca Cola commercial in the first break after the final out as it was th first one I can remember that was so specific and current to celebrate the win...its not on Youtube, only the 1993 one which was identical for being shown right after the game.

Jays were very lucky to get out of that 9th inning. Gant stupidly swing at a 3-1 pitch around his eyes.

That and Maldanado almost missing the line drive out #2...and thankfully threw it high to the plate on the tying run and it hits the backstop...he throws it low and it likely bounces around a lot more and the winning run comes in too.
