I wasn't expecting anything and we were supposed to be out in Banff/Lake Louise which was supposed to be our family xmas present but it was too cold, so we didn't go. Normally we'd just bundle up and go but with my daughter's health issues, even bundled up she ends up sick from these sorts of temps so we stayed home.

Got a mini-loaf maker doohickey from my oldest son. My mother-in-law crocheted me some dishcloths - totally forgot I'd asked for those a few months ago, so that was a nice little surprise. Oh, and my husband got me the Tim Horton's china mug I asked for, LOL. Spent the day with the family at home, cozied up. Did a LOT of cooking but it was fabulous and I'm about to tuck into a plate of leftovers for brunch. Oldest's girlfriend came over for xmas supper - that's a first - never had any of the girlfriends come for a holiday dinner, so we've entered a new realm (he's 22). Played some Cranium, drank some wine, watched some silly TV. Good day.

That is one heck of an expensive gift - it'll cost you a ton for the next two decades.

Just kidding, congrats!

Not much but that is as planned between the wife and me. We usually just save up for a big vacation every 18 months or so (I guess that's the gift...looking at northern italy next).

We did give ourselves the gift of peace and quiet by turning the closet under the stairs into a reading room/fort for the kids (6 and 4) as part of their present. So far they've spent nearly every waking moment in there playing house or zoo or school. They come out to eat and use the washroom. Somehow putting some shelves in, some decals on the wall and a beaded curtain doorway (a dragon picture) has created a magical environment where they don't fight.

wife got me a big pack of Dewalt cordless tools. I've decided to start learning more household renovation skills, so they will go to great use.

My parents surprised us with a nice big cheque that will help pay for the kitchen renovations we are doing. (I'm not handling the kitchen, I'm lining up stuff for the basement)

- GoPro Camera (wasn't expecting this at all, was actually planning on buying one on Boxing Day!)
- Snowboard bag
- $125 in cash/gift cards
- Blender
- Toolset
- Socks, base layer, omni-heat gloves
- Dark Knight Rises and Serenity (dad broke my old one so he bought me a new one )

Was better than expected. The toolset is really nice and the Go Pro is awesome.

I got a reasonable bonus from work. Chump change by the standards of most CP folk. But a nice amount for me.

Other than that a battery tender for my car that's sitting in the garage. My kid on the other hand...I need a larger house to store what he got.

My assistant gave my wife and I $200 and a suggestion for an nice restaurant. I spent the rest of Christmas wondering if I pay her too much or if my year-end bonus too her was overly generous.

Hopefully your wife isn't wondering why your assistant has so much guilt...

Mrs Cowperson laughed when I showed her your reply and said I should show it to my assistant tomorrow.

A few weeks ago, Mrs Cowperson wasn't laughing as much when I played an audio tape of her snoring for her sister, who did laugh hysterically.

You never know what people will find funny.

Got a Kobo Arc. I was initially disappointed, I always thought kobos were just black and white e readers, which I would never use. Well I thought wrong and quickly discovered it was basically a mini tablet that runs on Android. Its awesome!
