One of the items on my wife's wish list is Bluetooth for her car, a 2004 Grand Am. I had looked around and a lot of them are pretty pricey; especially for a vehicle that old.
Then I stumbled upon the OnStar FMV. Basically it adds an OnStar mirror to your older car; with some of the more basic OnStar functions. However because they are also planning on selling you a subscription, the cost is considerably less.
It isn't available in Canada yet, so it looks like I have 2 options:
- Drive down to the States and buy it there for $99; which also includes installation at Best Buy.
- Buy on off eBay and have Auto Temp install it here. I'd be looking at around $50 to have the unit sent up here and about $100 for them to install it.
So my questions for you guys:
- Has anybody else used this yet?
- Does anybody have any better hard wired bluetooth suggestions?
- Which option would you got for; drive down or have it sent up here? Driving down does mean gas plus I have to get my passport renewed, but then I know for sure it's working. I also get to do some cross border shopping.
