Zenit fans call for an all-white heterosexual team. Don't worry, they aren't racist, it's just about tradition:

Quote:
Landscrona, the largest Zenit supporters' club, released a manifesto Monday demanding the club field an all-white, heterosexual team. It added that "dark-skinned players are all but forced down Zenit's throat now, which only brings out a negative reaction" and said gay players were "unworthy of our great city."
I love Canada.

The heterosexual part might be different but this is not uncommon.

There are Mexican teams (ie Chivas Guadalajara) who only use Mexican players, and there's Espanol in La Liga who only use Basque players.

Except for the Brazilan, Portugese, French, Mexican, Argentine, Uruguayan and Ghanaian players they have on their roster.

Espanyol is in Catelonia.

You might be thinking of Athletico Bilbao who recruit players that were trained in the area as opposed to strictly being basque natives.

Yes, the sport turned them into a bunch of racists. Thank God they were raised by a tolerant family and society rather than one of those skinhead factories they call football academies...

Regardless, the two are different.

Bilbao, imo can best be described as being nationalist in their behaviour. They're not saying they have issues with people that aren't from the Basque country, just that they only want those who are (if that makes sense). Sorta like a national team. You don't get a call up unless you qualify.

Zenit isn't saying they only want Russian are people from a certain part of Russia. They're saying they don't want blacks.

If this happened, UEFA should suspend Zenit from European competition.

I sometimes wonder if Liverpool operates under these guidelines.
