Not sure about the law regarding taking the bolts out, but I also do that.

The obvious issue is that it is hard to enforce. You're pretty much just stuck teaching it and hoping people choose to follow the guidelines.
It's not law at all but certainly a very good idea as an extra step of security.

It would be great if everyone did that.

This is sort of unrelated but I would love to know how gun owners feel about illegal drugs.

I don't get how they can justify one being illegal and not the other.

They're both harmful things that are controlled. They can both be viewed as a hobby. They are both unnessecary, dangerous things.

There's no reason someone needs to own an assault rifle and there is no reason someone needs to do blow. They both just put people at risk.

I know they're not easy to compare as one harms the user and the other is meant to harm others, but I think it's an interesting discussion in terms of freedoms and rights.

(fyi, I meant this in an anti-gun light. As in my mind it's absolutely ######ed that guns are legal and easily available and drugs aren't)

Not sure if it was pointed out, but I saw the Chinese knife attack pointed out earlier in the thread. Everyone survived the knife attack. There were no casualties. Only 7 people went to the hospital. Trying to equate knife attacks where it is much more difficult to kill someone with a gun attack where it is much easier seems ridiculous to me.

The lists seem to vary a little, but are all pretty similar.

According to this source http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datab...-homicides-map, the most heavily armed civilian populations are:

1. USA
2. Yemen
3. Switzerland
4. Finland
5. Serbia
....
13. Canada

FA, isn't it a mandatory thing for the Swiss? Because they don't have a standing militia? I wonder what their death rate is, regarding guns?

I've been cracking jokes on how stupid guns are since the beginning.

We're mocking Koreans too.

If you click on the map, it will give you more details (and you can also download a sortable table). The number of people killed by firearms in Switzerland is 0.77/100,000 people. Right between Lebanon and Turkey. Switzerland is actually one of the worst countries in Europe.

For comparison:

France = 0.06/100,000
Israel = 0.09/100,000
Cuba = 0.26/100,000
Finland = 0.45/100,000
Canada = 0.51/100,000
Uganda = 0.87/100,000
Sri Lanka = 1.48/100,000
Sierra Leone = 2.28/100,000
West Bank and Gaza = 2.95/100,000
USA = 2.97/100,000
Mexico = 9.97/100,000
South Africa = 17.03/100,000
Columbia = 27.09/100,000
Honduras = 68.52/100,000

The Middle East and Asia seems to have a lot of incomplete data though.

It is absolutely insane that the US has more gun deaths per capita than the West Bank & Gaza, Sierra Leon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Absolutely shocking!
