I don't have a ton of experience with Agricola, and none with it for 2 players, but I imagine it would be fine, but certainly not the best way to play it.
Boardgamegeek has a player poll that seems to indicate the same thing.

I played Settlers of Catan - Kinghts & Cities this weekend, and I thought it was a great expansion. I've only ever played the original though. Any reccomendations on other expansions?

IMO, Settlers of the Stone Age is the best game in the series, but it is not an expansion. It is a stand-alone game.

I love Agricola with 2 players and actually prefer to play it with 2.

The traders and barbarians expansion is worth trying... it has a bunch of different scenarios/variants, but the one the best of them is the scenario that's actually called 'traders and barbarians'. Basically you've got caravans that you're moving around the board to deliver goods while everything else is going on, and road-building strategy completely changes as a result. It stacks pretty well with Cities & Knights too.

Just played Cardcasonne. Note the 'd'. Pretty fun light game. Turns into a pretty intense game of chicken at some points. I think my wife will really like it.

I think it is actually a very deep game. Really good players know what tiles are left, and are very tough to beat.

Hmm, I could see that. Interesting. I'm getting it for Christmas, so we'll be getting a number of plays in the next couple of weeks.
Played Puzzle Strike last night as well. I really like that game. Very entertaining.

Wifey got a new game last week, Qwirkle. Pretty damn entertaining, bit challenging. . You get "tokens" with 6 shapes + 4 colours. Need to match them up in lines, but can only match up colour or shape.

$80 for Agricola? Crazy.
Is 7 Wonders any good?

I don't see any reference to it on the website, but if that is the case, that is awesome.

IIRC, 2-3 years ago Aeneas and I bought 3 games and got one for free, after Xmas. I don't know if it is an official/annual thing.

So buy three get one free or buy three for the price of one? I assume the former.

has anyone played Killer Bunnies? It is very sought after by my 11y/o daughter and was quite difficult to find.I also bought Carcossone for the family. Should be fun.I should throw out props to the game store in North Hill Centre, Games People Play. The guy was very friendly and helpful and they had all of the various games that have been mentioned in this thread. he was also very open with suggestions for the "next" game to play with the kids. http://www.gamespeopleplay.ca/home.html
