Yeah, I wouldn't bet on hamilton being a 25 million in years 3-5 of that deal. Though they are pretty much playing with house money in their 150 million per year tv deal.

Unless the Mets know how to combine multiple players into singular players that only retain the good attributes, Bourjos and Trumbo wouldn't really work.

Their pitching is still pretty weak though. They were in on Greinke so I can't blame them for not trying, but he would have meant a lot more to them then Hamilton IMO. The offseason becomes even more intriguing for the Rangers, it was just last week we were talking about them with Hamilton and Greinke! There's a big part of me that will be rooting for Oakland next season. All that quality young pitching trumping the Rangers and Angels again would sure be sweet. Sucks to be Seattle

The LA teams spend a boatload of cash, yet I'd still argue the two Bay Area teams are better. Indeed Hamilton means more runs for the Angels, and they'll need them with that pitching staff. Still find it odd a guy with serious substance abuse issues is going to Southern California, where there might a temptation or 5,000.

Sanchez 5 for 75 to the Cubs. Nobody in the world saw that coming. He'll do well returning to the NL but my lord that is a lot of money.
And it's hard to argue that the Melky Cabrera contract has to be one of the top 3 contracts this offseason. Baseball inflation and tv contracts = huge money being spent

To think I thought I was drinking this weekend because it's the holidays.
Nope.
Napoli, Young, Hamilton gone.
Grenkie, and Sanchez sign elsewhere.
Hamilton ends up in Anahiem of all places.
And Soto is our starting catcher.
Ok if we could re-sign Mike Adams, and find a catcher somewhere I'd switch from the hard stuff to beer.
Still though:
1B - Kinsler
SS - Andrus
2B - Profar
3B - Beltre
RF - Cruz
DH - Olt/Moreland
LF - Murphy
CF - Gentry/Martin
C - Soto
Rotation: Darvish, Harrison, Holland, Ogando, Perez (Lewis and Feliz when they come off the DL) with Soria setting up Nathan.
Not too bad.

Rangers stil have a great prospect pool.
Sounds like Sanchez deal is not done yet, Detroit still being able to match. I'd go to Chicago if I was him. Much more pitcher friendly, and I'd hitch my wagon to Theo Epstein anytime, the Cubs will be contending in no time.

I was going to comment that Pujols and Hamilton will still be going to Wells for pay day loans when they run out of money. It's a battle in Los Angeles to see who can outspend the other guy.
15 million for Sanchez...well it's better than AJ Burnett getting what was it, 90 million over 5 years from the Yankees.

Wells is now a 21 million dollar utility outfielder. Maybe their fifth best!

Hamilton's overrated. 160+ Ks and 60 BBs? That's horrid. How does someone with that sort of power and presence only walk 60 times? His 3.45 average WAR the past two seasons has him behind Erick Aybar and Howie Kendrick, and that's just on the Angels. Now WAR isn't the be all and end all, but geez. Holy overrated batman. I swear the guy is a glorified Mark Reynolds.

Sanchez back to the Tigers
Agent Gene Mato Sanchez agrees to 5 year,$80 million deal w #Tigers
The #Cubs ownership and Theo Epstein were in Miami yesterday and presented $77 million offer, but #Tigers jumped up and stole him back
The #Tigers original offer was four years, $48 million so they made dramatic increase to get Sanchez at $80 million

Who will land Dickey?
All signs point to #Mets trading Dickey. Little progress with extension, 1 yr./$5M looks more attractive by the day. #Rangers still in mix.

Illich isn't messing around is he. The Royals must have scared him
The big question is what does that mean for Verlander in 2014.

If Ilitch is still alive and the Tigers don't win the series this year, I think they'll try.
It's going to be tough to keep Fielder ($214M), Cabrera (likely >$200M), Martinez (2015 FA - likely >$15M/season), Sanchez ($80M) and have enough room for Verlander (>$200M - probably the biggest per year salary and overall contract for pitcher ever) and have pitching/position depth.
With LAA and LAD joining the ranks of NYY, BOS and PHI and with a growing second tier of spenders (TEX, TOR, CHW, STL, SFG), Verlander is basically going to be able to pick his team and fill out the cheque himself.
