I could see that. I've crossed paths with him too. Went Villains instead though.

McMahon isn't that far from downtown. And there's a lot of potential around that 16 Ave/Banff Trail corridor.

It is in a perfect spot actually. Right on the LRT line. Parking etc. The Flames could scoop them up and make some deal to takeover the whole area and redevelop it for their franchises.

It's literally minutes from downtown, and as we've seen in the Flames arena threads the options for a stadium right downtown aren't exactly plentiful. I don't see this happening, mostly because I don't see the MLS as an option for Calgary for a long time, but the location certainly isn't an issue.

It is perfect location. Any stadium needs to be on or near a c train line. It makes everything easier. Going to vipers games was great because you could just hop on a train

I still think we should look at something like this with an increased capacity to accommodate the Stamps.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Stadium
Assuming a four fold cost increase to account for inflation and the capacity increase, it's a $175 million dual use facility.

Hmmm if we're looking multi use then why not look to Investor's Group Field in Winnipeg as a comparable? That being said, having a lower division team play in a 30000+ seat stadium would be a death knell unless you could fill the stadium consistently.

I don't know who I would have to cheer for if Calgary got a team.
Hating Vancouver teams was so easy until the Whitecaps. If there was a Whitecaps vs Calgary rivalry, I'd be a one torn individual.

FYI, Steven Sandor at the11.ca interviewed the new NASL Commissioner and he talked about NASL expansion to Calgary and Winnipeg. If Calgary does get a professional soccer team, NASL will be the highest possible league that could start here IMO....

I'd think that would be how we start. I'll be the first one on board if it happens though. The Foothills site would be nice too (but not the stadium itself)
