Grooveshark is alright...i haven't used it in a while, so I'm not actually sure if it still exists.
Last.fm is good too, if you have any interest in paying the $3/month(?) to subscribe...i like that it recommends bands based on a what you listen to.

if you use Chrome, get the media hint extension and it allows you to access hulu, pandora and US netflix, which are all blocked in Canada

I don't like to think about music too much so Songza has worked really well for me. It is playlist based as opposed to just playing songs but that has not been a problem. I stopped my rdio subscription because of Songza but was not really using rdio to its full potential at all.

Is that the name? I searched it in the extension store and it came up with something that did not seem like what you described.

Slacker radio is another app that you might like with that feature

It isn't available in the store. Go here: https://mediahint.com/ and follow the directions.
It works perfectly, by the way.

http://8tracks.com/ is my personal favourite.
User created playlists. It's a great way to discover new music in a genre you really like.

Branching out from the radio format, I prefer Rdio. $10/month essentially gives you access to all the music you want on demand. If you build up a social network of people with like-minded tastes, you'll find new music on a consistent weekly basis. There aren't many systems easier than pirating, but this would be one of them.

I like Rdio as well - I'm inching ever closer to simply archiving my iTunes library and running with Rdio full time.
They've added notifications for when artists you have in your collection release new music on Rdio, which is really appealing to me - a good way to keep up with bands you only listen to on an occasional basis.
The Rdio mobile apps are light years ahead of the Music player on iOS for visual appeal, performance, etc.

Yeah RDIO is awesome - I've been using it for a year or so. The widget for RDIO is nice on Android phones, too.

Just discovered Pandora the last couple of days. Its definitely well worth the ten cents per day cost. I'm too lazy to put together my own playlists, and this service has already introduced me to a pile of great music I would never have found. One more advantage to using Unblock US.
