Looks like Bryn is heading back to Edmonton:
http://www.edmontonsun.com/2012/11/2...radio-stations
Over at Newcap, home of Capital FM, CFCW and K97, long-time media guy Bryn Griffiths returns to Edmonton after hosting an afternoon drive show on Fan 960 in Calgary for the past year. Bryn is joining their sales department. As well, the K-97 Christmas Rig for the Edmonton Food Bank returns from Dec. 10-14.

Must've had a weeks worth of vacation saved. Now it's painfully obvious Steinberg isnt ready to host the flames yet, so does Loubo slide into that role?

Although he wasn't my favourite, at least Brynn wasn't an obnoxious know-it-all like so many sportscasters are now.

It's very hard to be that when you know very little.

There is, but that's not because Bryn was good. It's because Rogers is cheap and good radio talent is impossible to find these days. Bryn was employed because he could string sentences together without stuttering. He could fill time. He said nothing of substance, and I can recall one moment during his tenure here, when he was talking about the draft, where I felt 'this guy has something to say worth listening to'.
I'm sure he's a nice guy. For that, he'll probably always have a job. But it's telling that his new job is in sales.

I agree, seems to be a great guy by all accounts. Very we'll liked by players and other media. Just wish he had more opinions on topics that matter.
As for a replacement I hope it's lombardis (sp). Guy knows his hockey and is very passionate. I would also like to hear hockey central at noon from 1:00 to 2:00. I can't stand Kipper but generally the discussion and debate is good.

Im pretty sure Lombardious is under contract as a scout...though that may allow him time to do a radio show at times, but not full time I wouldnt think.

Contracts like that are pretty easy to terminate, especially considering he's likely not getting paid much more than mileage to do that job.
I'm sure there would be a clause in the contract that would allow him to pursue other career options (given they he wasn't doing the same job with another team). Pretty much every contract has a termination clause, given there is sufficient notice given.

He was scouting for the Red Deer Rebels but they do not have him listed as a scout. Not sure if that really means anything but in my opinion he has to be considered the replacement for Brynn. Any idea when that decision might be made?

The Flames should have hired Loubo as a WHL scout, the guy knows his junior hockey.

But why is that? Wouldn't almost every member of CP want to talk about sports and have your own professional soapbox? If it's impossible to find, it's probably because the station isn't willing to pay for it. There have got to be thousands of people out there looking for this kind of opportunity. Maybe they're too picky, looking for folks with some sort of specific college education?

It's probably because being on the radio is one of those jobs people think is cool but in actuality is god damned horrible.
Listen to those guys, it's a constant sponsor pimpfest and I'm sure they get paid peanuts. On air in radio just seems awful.

Yeah, you're right about that, but thinking about my own career, even the jobs I thought would be awesome had crappy parts. My first job was in a lab. Perfect for me, I got to be in Chemistry labs and get paid for it! Except, you had to clean the sumps once a week and weigh stuff to the nearest .01 gram for most of your day.
