Season Ticket Holders- what to do with money?
I have budgeted myself every year to pay for my Flames season tickets. This year I have extra money!!!
Lots of people think that if you have Flames season tickets you are some how rich? Well lots of people that have them are but I would bet that most of us are not. What are the rest of you going to do with the extra cash in the pocket after the cancelled games or full season?
I am going to play a bunch of golf courses and take an extra vacation next summer.
How about the rest of you?
And trust me, even a half season = alot of extra cash for me.

Expect a baby boom in 6-9 months. I heard instruments related to copulation usually have a large spike in sales during sports lock outs.

I used some of the saved money to get Roughnecks seasons tickets for the first time and am really looking forward to the games. If the season is done and the Flames offer some sort of Hitmen package for super cheap I might consider that too.

I am not a ST holder but was wondering while I was watching the drama unfold last night.
When do they return the deposits? As soon as the season is cancelled?

I know there has been some changes with this, so I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the Flames won't be giving money back, it'll just be applied to your tickets for next season. In 05/06, I know if you asked for your money back you lost your seniority and ticket rights.
I'm really torn about letting them hold my $ if the season is cancelled. I got it back last time, lost my seats and ended up on the Hot House list.

Perhaps InglewoodFan has newer info than I do, but as far as I know when a month is officially cancelled (as it was in Sep, Oct and Nov), you can have a cheque mailed to you minus 10% to hold your spot. I assume if they changed this policy they would have to let us know.
My wife is on mat leave with our 2nd, so as blasphemous as it is to say, if there's going to be a lockout this is the perfect year for it. The added money has helped out quite a bit for little day-to-day stuff.

Nope, I think I have old information. I've seen reference to the 10% to hold thing in other forum posts, but I've never seen an official e-mail from the Flames about that plan. (Checked last night) My impression is you have to call your ticket agent to arrange that.

You and me both. I'm wondering if I should call my ticket rep to arrange something because I could really use the cash right now.

You are correct and I failed to mention that. You need to call them and request a cheque be sent to you for the cancelled games. I believe they send out cheques once per month.

I called earlier this week and got my money back for the cancelled games. I'll be getting a pretty big cheque soon. It is big enough that I am seriously considering giving up the tickets.
As for what I am doing with the money, nothing really. It is just reducing the amount of money that I withdraw from my business to live off.

If the season does get fully cancelled, I am finally going to buy an Omega Seamaster.
I have been wanting one for 20 years now.

I don't have season tickets but my budget I usually save for NHL related expenses has been transferred to my skiing budget for the winter. yay! Probably for the better regardless.

I had originally thought that if this season was cancelled than I didn't have to worry about paying for next season and could sell a few games and put them towards the next season and be a little ahead of the game.
As more time passes I see comments from players and start getting mad. Guys like Matt Stajan, Keith Ballard, David Booth,Hemsky, Horcoff ...... the list goes on will make more in 1 season than i will make in the next 25 years before I retire to play a game.
Raffe *&^%@$ Torres will make more in 1 season than I will in 12 years.
This is all making me closer to the point of just saying screw it and not go anymore. I could put the same amount of money aside a year and take my family on a nice vacation instead.
The longer it goes the less I find myself caring

A guaranteed 3% return these days is not a bad investment.

Yes 3% is not that bad. I will leave my money with the flames and if the season is cancelled then I make 3% and have the tickets for next year paid for. That means extra cash next summer.
