John Lucas, Aaron Gray would be my two choices ahead I think.
Honestly though, this move is not going to make squat of a difference. Role player after role player coming in and out.

I'll just wait and see how he does before i judge this move. Anyhow on the Raptors facebook page a lot of people are open to bringing back Vince Carter and Vince said earlier this year that if given the option he would love to finish his career in Toronto. Would that be something you guys think would happen?

Those two fill a more important role though, a team needs a third string player at PG and C. I believe that they have longer contracts too, so more money guaranteed to them. Like you said though, it really doesn't matter.

Not sure if I think it would happen, but I'd be ok with VC coming back if he does.

It might be a nice finale to his career if Vince got to finish with the Raptors. I'd be fine with it, but I guess I'm mostly indifferent as to whether this happens or not.

Bandaid moves like Pietrus are typical BC. Wish the clown would have some long term plan in mind but even when he wasn't a lame duck GM he just moved from Plan B to Plan B.

At this point, Carter would be their go-to player, and that would be embarrassing for the franchise. For that reason alone I doubt it would happen. Though Carter was really mislead by management in his last few months here and sulked as a result, the only way a move like this would be made would be for a GM to save face with the fans. I want to see some direction with the team. When you look at championship team (ignore LA and Miami), compare each player on the Raps starting lineup to theirs, and you'll see that most of our players in the starting lineup are not championship calibre players. Right now the only player that I see as an absolute do not touch, is Valanchiunas. Second tier to him this season may be Lowry and DeRozan. After that, everyone else is absolutely tradable. I would argue that both Lowry and DeRozan could be on championship teams with solid starting lineups, but they both have to maintain their aggressiveness and consistency. I don't know if the Raps could deal a future 1st rounder considering the conditional 1st already out there for Lowry, but if they could deal a future 1st and Bargnani for a star slasher, that would be huge for the team going forward. This year they've lacked that clutch scoring star more than any other year and they definitely need it now.

Actually no they really don't need a clutch scoring star right now. Val has been good but nowhere near great and that's not a knock on him. Will take him some time to fill out and learn the tricks of an NBA player. They should make a deal with OKC and get their pick back. They should use Bargnani and Jose to get that pick and/or more young guys or picks. They should tank even harder the next year and go after Wiggins.
The team needs to be built around Val who is 20. None of the older players will be a factor when he is ready to lead them.
A properly thought out 3 yr plan and they can be a young team on the ascendancy rather than a treadmill team.

I'd say the Raptors should start Peitrus next game. He played better defense than anyone else they've had at SF this year, and on offence he's got a good enough three from the corner that he can create space.
Tough five-game roadtrip coming up... going 2-3 would be a success for them.

Ross is looking better and better and needs more minutes. Davis needs more minutes as well. I wish Casey had the cajones to just bring Bargnani off the bench. He is a prototypical 6th man.

Raptors lose another one after having a late lead...Bargnani comes back off the bench in the fourth and comes out bricking jump shots.

Yeah what a bad sub from casey, ed davis was killing it and they actually had the lead. Then bricknani, bustnani, trashnani came in and we lost the game. Lowry looked soo pissed when bargs got subbed in.

Bad GM, bad talent and a coach that has looked surprisingly bad this year and it isn't a big surprise that this team is one of the worst in the league.
I thought the team would be bad this year but even I didn't expect them to be possibly the worst team in the league. I imagine the road excuse will be used but this team looks awful in almost every game they have played so far with few positives going forward and possibly zero building blocks (depending on how you feel about JV) on the roster now.
Hopefully this will be enough to get BC fired but based on him keeping his job and getting extensions based on the horrible job he did in the past I won't hold my breath on that happening.

As long as we get rid of bricknani I'll be happy. When he used to chuck it was ok because he actually made key shots. But now he's missing wide open shots, and shooting us out of the games.

The Raptors have this all planned out to get the "next big thing" in the 2014 draft. If you haven't heard the name Andrew Wiggins, you will. He's from Toronto, scouts think he has higher upside than Anthony Davis and is being compared to Scottie Pippen. Some of his clips on YouTube are pretty crazy, kid clearly has freakish athleticism. Sucking now allows for a dump of everyone meaningful to go into a full blown rebuild, making next season's tank more explicable. I think the Raptors will be desperate to get this kid since its the dream scenario, having a potentially massive homegrown star on the team.

Rumor has it that the Raptors are willing to trade Bargiani, Klezia and Calderon for Gasol. That trade makes no sense. Gasol is on the decline, has bad knees and a huge contract. We'd be trading a good role player and making our point guard depth extremely weak. I hope this rumor is not true, we'd be taking a big step back if we made this deal.

It makes little to no sense for either team.
The Lakers want to win this year and next and this deal makes them worse for both those years.
The only reason that TO does the deal is if BC thinks that Gasol can help save his job by getting the Raps close to the play-offs and he uses that to sell ownership on his crappy job up to this point.
I guess the Raptors get the much better player so it makes some sense in a vacuum but you would think they could get pieces that, while not as good as Gasol, fit better for what the team needs to be a contender at some point.

Any trade involving Gasol and Bargnani/Calderon will almost certainly involve a third team. The Raptors won't take on Gasol because if you think he's unmotivated in LA, what exactly would he be in Toronto? A third team, likely a contender or something close, will be involved. Also apparently Gasol will not be traded until Nash gets some time to play with him, which the Lakers are said to have promised Nash.

The Lakers fired Brown about two days after publicly supporting him. I would trust anything Lakers sources say one way or the other. I agree that it might make sense to involve a third team, but BC might make the deal now then try to flip Gasol to a contender closer to the deadline. I think he says yes as soon as the Lakers ask. Anyway, I don't think that Gasol is unmotivated, simply that he's an awful fit for a d'antoni's offense.
