I may have misread the OP but I didn't see where it said pump up the Flames and ignore other teams.
His post seems to answer the original question and if you don't like the answer maybe try answering it without the petty insults and " go somewhere else" BS.

Considering the posts I have seen from you on here, I will take that with a grain of salt. And apparently, you don't read too good cause it was him that told me to go elsewhere in the first place. And maybe this isn't a "pump up the Flames site", but, I was hoping it was a group of people to talk about them- not put them down. Considering you got a St.Louis Cards pic as your moniker, and you stupid posts in the past, I think you definately mis-read something, somewhere.

They lost their team cause they (the owners) could not keep up with the losses. They are a hockey area , but, consistant loosing revenue teams usually don't last too long. They have another chance now. If they loose, same will happen again. The US market is not geared to the NHL. If the team wins a bit, like in Nashville etc, they will go for a bit, but if they loose every game....don't kid yourself. These are teams that don't bring in any profit. Food for thought... Toronto has the biggest fan base and is the most profitable team in the NHL~ not cause they win, cause of the support. St.Louis made the playoffs last year and was a dominant force during the year- yet, the least profitable team in the league. What does that tell you ? that's why I say Calgary will be eventually successfull, we have the fans and we want to win cause we have a tradition to do so.
Both Parise and Suter were solid aqisitions, but for the money, are not game changers and not nearly worth the money spent and eventually will handcuff their team financially down the road. If Parise goes down to injury, which he does from time to time, then what ? You forgot Patrick Sieloff as a prospect, a lock, John Gillies, Rammo, Cervenka, Breen, etc. I will fight for Calgary's chances 5 years from now~ you do what you do.

Sorry, I love my team. Period. And I don't understand why some guys are even on here. I love a good discussion, but when we are on here and I'm defending the Flames, I get a bit frustrated.

dont worry, in 1999 if you said the Flames would be in the stanley cup finals in 5 years you would have been laughed off the board (had it existed at the time) thing is nobody knows whats gonna happen. People always say watch out for so and so and all their prospects and most of the time it never works out. There are many variables for a winner...and had the Flames been able to score the odd time in the shootout the Kings wouldn't even have made the playoffs yet everyone seems happy to pick them to be powerhouses for years to come.
grain of salt my friend

Delusional, "homer in the face of any reason or logic" fans like that guy are an embarrassment to the fanbase and should not be encouraged unless it's encouraging them to keep their nonsense to themselves.

No. Pretty far off. I was questioing your comment on Florida having good management.
You took that to mean, that Florida will see zero improvement in the next six years.
That's not really in the same ballpark.

Yea I guess not. The part about last years goal differential and then saying it was luck in the immediate next sentence confused the whole point. I guess I was supposed to assume you meant luck as in Tallon's days in Chicago not as in last season even though that's kind of how it read, but anyway yeah I think they will be a good team, maybe not the best in the league but I could see them being a 3-6 seed in 5 years. Like others have said though it really is a crap shoot so much can change.

In Calgary's short 32 year existance, we have had 3 Stanley Cup finals appearances, 1 Stanley Cup, 2 President's Trophies, 3 Clarence Campbell conference titles, 2 Smythe Division Playoff championships, 2 Pacific division titles, A Northwest Division title, plus several Individual and team honors and attendance records, and future HOF'ers. Not bad.

True, however except for cup finals in 04 and the 06 Northwest title all of those were won in the 80s/early 90s. It's like saying the Islanders have a winning culture.

Speak for yourself. I and everyone on here should feel free to express their opinions and thoughts- even if it isn't to your standard and without you telling them what is nonsense, that they shouldn't post on here, or they are an embarrassment to themselves, others, or the fanbase. To me, that is far beyond crossing the line and I find those kinds of comments ignorant and cancerous. I will leave it at that as I have received an infraction and I better keep it mature and cool- apparently they feel as though you are allowed to sling insults, but not get any back.

So ? it's a winning past/ culture, what ever you want to call it- it is what it is. And yes, the Iles have a winning past, and come from a winning culture. I'm talking from an organizational standpoint not just the 2000's- who cares, it's in the last 30 years then. The team has been successful on many levels in the past- there, is that better for you now ? you ok with that and is it up to your standards now ?

Well, because pretty much every team has some degree of a winning past/culture. Yes the Flames have had some degree of success for a few years with prime Iggy, Kipper, etc, and yes the 80's Flames were awesome, But you're kidding yourself if you can say the 90s/early 2000s were successful, they were horrible. I'm not sure why you're attacking everyone, if you don't like how people respond to your posts, don't post.

Did I say the early 90's and early 2000's were successful at all ? As for attacking everyone, I don't, but I'm getting sick and tired of a couple of people nit picking for the sake of nit picking and feeling like I'm talking to a Canucks fan vs a Flames fan. Feels like I'm talking with more woman then men at times.
